Can a Famicom Work on an American T.V. Set?

Hey NA, i've been kind of thinking about getting a famicom, but I don't know if it would work on my T.V. Is there a way this can be done? Help would be awesome!

  • I'm pretty sure it has A/V cables that would work on the TV. Japan is NTSC the same as us. I have a Super Famicom and it works just fine with no adapters.
  • yep, shouldn't be a problem at all.
  • You most certainly can. I just hooked mine up the other day. I'm not sure about the power adapter, but you can just switch the A/V cables back and forth. However, they require different channels for mine. For example, my famicom runs on the last channel (in the 90's) and my NES runs on the 3rd channel.
  • Since its such a pain getting good deals on famicom stuff stateside, I recommend getting a power pak. It probably plays 9/10 japanese games no prob, but it can also play translated patched japanese games too. Not only that but you dont have to worry about paying high shipping fee's importing from Japan all the time.
  • why don't you just use an adapter to play famicom games? thats what i do. easier then having another console.

unless you really love the look of a nice little fami, i have a clone that looks almost exact, quite nice.

Uh...This may sound stupid, but what do you mean by a clone?

not an original famicom made by nintendo, a copy, they come in many shapes and sizes, some look like playstations.
