  • had problems with the Double Dragon link. That said, you're going to be able to have a Double Dragon art themed room soon with all you're picking up image
  • thanks, fixed the link.

DD themed art room? I wish, I only have this and an ad piece.

Besides, I won't be picking up much else soon anyways. And my collection is a fraction of adam's, I just like sharing every piece because I have so few that each pickup is a cool little triumph.
  • I have told you before, but I will say it again LOVE IT.

  • Thanks Jason. I was really happy with both of these.

  • I wish I knew a really good artist.  I would get them to paint me some nice stuff like this.
  • The artists generally used to get 1500-2500 for these jobs back in the late 80s and early 90s. That was almost twenty years ago. I don't even want to think about what a commission like this would cost from these artists today..... 5000? more? I don't know, but I expect it would be a lot. Unless you have an artist friend I think commissioning something like this would be tough. The market value of the piece would be less than what you paid for the commission.
  • The commissions vary greatly on this type of artwork. My friend Tommy Lee Edwards ('The Question', anyone?) commissioned me to do his site http://www.TommyLeeEdwards.com/ and we've talked about this quite a bit in the past. He gets anywhere from a few hundred to several thousands of dollars depending on the company, medium, size, character "likeness", etc. He's got some of his art for sale as well for you comic freaks image
  • (BTW, he's worked on Batman Begins, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Men in Black, etc... worked with DC, Dark Horse, Marvel, etc...)

cool idea and thanks for sharing the link.

Yeah, certainly a cheaper commission could be arranged and that's good of you to mention. I was just talking about this exact size/medium/artist. But if you compromise on any of those three dimensions you can bring the price down a lot as you say. Anybody thinking about a commission though should be prepared for a wait - commissions are typically done between the artists' deadline-sensitive work.
  • That's a really great piece! That's one of the several thousand dollar ones, I'm sure image Great looking piece.
  • And guess who buys *all* of those pieces?
  • Oh yeah, one of the featured artists on his page does some Link stuff:

No idea. I know less than nothing about star wars. Did you buy it?
  • Ah, no worries -- Lucas himself buys them all.

I don't think I could ever really collected unpublished material... its just way cooler having the original box cover. There's only one of those whereas the artist could be commissioned to do any # of unpubbed pieces. Neat to have the option to do a commission if you can't find the original you want though.

So what are you going to have tommy do for you? A portrait of how you would look with pectoral implants? (ren & stimpy ref image )
  • Nice art Bronty! I think it's funny that one of the guys in the DD one is holding a sword...haven't played the SNES game, but I would've expected it to focus more on the typical hand-to-hand combat.
  • I especially like how the sword is bright green too image Some kinda lightsaber??? Whatever.
  • that and both guys are wearing high heels...
