It makes more sense to get repros on those systems because even in collector terms they can duplicated EXACTLY unlike NES stuff which isn't as rampant with exact replicates. It's gotten to the point on 2600 where only 1-2 people could tell the difference on "fake" carts if they wanted to. Boxes are always a different story, but the Neo just doesn't have that going for it. It's really the art that you are paying for and that's it.

can you explain?    what do you mean by the "neo doesn't have that going for it"?    maybe the box art is the same on the us version so you can't tell if the box is us or pal, or..?   just unclear on what you mean and I do find this interesting

To clarify, there is no region specification of Neo Geo homecarts. The regions are for the system itself. An English cart will play in a Japanese system, but the text will be in Japanese. Plug a Japanese cart into an English system and the game plays in English. The real collectible appeal is in the insert, manual and cart label which are different based on region.

I think Dream is referring to the fact that collectors interest isn't in the carts themselves like you have with Atari and NES. There's just no such thing as an AES "cart only" collector....and so, counterfeiters must bootleg the artwork as well as the games.
