Ask SuperNESman about his "grownup friends".
  • Sorry to hear this. The internet is a rough place...it lets people act as if they have a cloak of invisibility. Peeping in on others having sex, whispering advice in the ears of others whether wanted or not, and acting like someone they're not. Just because one corner of it seems friendly, does not mean that there is an absence of these invisible strangers, and this time it only took one whisper to ruin your day. Thanks for posting your story, hopefully some good will come from it when others steel themselves to the fact that even on NA, you just can't trust everyone.

Thanks Dan and everyone on NA for there support, I really appreciate it. I hope I find out who this person is.

  • Damn that sucks, but I don't think you can say for sure it was someone here from NA, someone could have emailed him and inquired on it to find out it was sold, already, and maybe just asked what price you sold it for. That would be pretty typical. Or else the guy just went to ebay to take a look and made up the story someone told him, so he wouldn't seem like such a bad guy. Just 2 thoughts. But I agree, never brag until the goods are home, I never do, I'm always paraniod someone will contact the seller and do a side deal when I get some cheap sealed or rare games. I think the ebay prices are outrageous on a few games, maybe they'll get cheaper in a few years, but I'm not holding my breath
  • That's why you never post a link until you have the items in your hands image

    KIDDING

  • I have the same feeling when I have bid on something that's about to go cheap, and someone half ass snipes with no seriousnous of winning just to drive up the price a little.

The games were never on craigslist. When i was looking on craigslist i found a nintendo sign for sale. I emailed the seller asking if he had anything else, and he said he had factory sealed games.

  • I'm sure it wasn't hard to find a list of people in the US selling Nintendo Signs. I've found tons of deals by asking if they had anything else they wanted to sell, but if you originally said that the dude was selling a NES sign, then that was a dead giveaway.

I know how it is when you have a big score in the works and you have to tell someone about it, but you can never brag about it until you have it in your hands.

Sorry dude, some people just like to ruin it for everyone.

Point remains, you should've kept it to yourself until the deal was done and you had the items in your hands.  Sure it's low for someone to screw up a potential score, especially if it could be the score of a lifetime, but that's the risk you take for being public about your transactions before the deal is done.

Moving forward is best thing to do about this predicament. I know i will find more rare stuff in the future. So far i have found a CIB little samson for 4.00, 2 factory sealed suikoden II's for 20.00, a super nintendo counter tester for 10.00, panic restaurant for 5.00.     I will have to post some collection pictures in the near future  image

  • Damn that blows man :-/. I feel for you, but I'm sure more deals will come your way image

And what does that accomplish?  It takes a bigger man to walk away.
  • every time jonebone takes a moral stand.... somewhere a nun starts weeping. image

someone messed with this guy's money and is getting away with it without so much as an email. where I come from it is a good thing when people have to face repercussions for what they have done. otherwise they keep doing it. walking away is the higher path for a lot of things, but lets not protect the backstabber. a few emails wont kill him image
  • I say talk to Dain about who's email it is, as it'll likely be on record here. If it is, you'll be able to post his username instead. If not, THEN we flood his email box.

I'll see if i can get his email from the seller. If i post the person's email will this be another Purple Ganon thing like that 3,000 zelda auction and everyone messing with the seller image

  • Sorry to hear that man!

Offer the seller $100 for a copy of the email. It will probably work.

You'd be surprised, sometimes when I'm watching an item that gets ended early on eBay I immediately ask the seller who bought it and they are very relucant to release this information.  I never tried a financial reward though, mostly because I'm just curious and not bitter.

I would agree with this.  There is no incentive for the seller to release that information.
Similarly, even for a small financial reward, they should have serious second-thoughts about why you would want that information so badly.

They get to choose between having one pissed off person emailing them (You)...and a different pissed off person emailing them...

  • I think the going rate for an email/userID is $50. That always seems to work for another member here.

I wouldn't mind getting some backdoor action myself.

I think I can help you with this.... oh my god, did everyone hear that? (walks away slowly)

  • IMHO Anyone proven to backdoor someone should be in the HOS....or have a giant dildo icon added by their name.
