Comments

  • Just got this game CIB on Mar. 03 from eBay for 21.50 + 4.00 shipping.

  • Is the troll attached?
  • Ok thanks for this info.

So basically it looks like this is a fairly rare item, but not much demand for it.

  • The troll on the box is really f'in rare, I had 3 boxed copies come through my hands and never with a troll. I'd say a CIB is probably right around $25-30, most of the unlicensed games have fallen sharply over the past year.
  • Hmm, interesting. Didn't know about this. What exactly is "the troll on the box"? Did they make different box fronts and one version had a troll on it? Or are you talking about something that was "attached" to the box?
  • Take a look at the box. There should be holes punched in the bottom. There was a little troll doll attached to it with a piece of plastic tied through the holes. Finding a copy that the troll is attached to is tough to do, and is all but impossible without finding it sealed.

I did find a CIB copy with the troll at a store like 10 years ago image Some shelf wear at the top but otherwise pretty mint.  How much do these fetch with the troll?

  • i swear there was an auction a few years ago around 2007 with a troll still attached that ended around $550 - but my mind could be playing tricks..
  • I doubt it was THAT high, but it's definitely a shitton higher than a CIB without it.
  • Well the hard Rad Racer glasses are in the $125-$150 range and those were mailaways only and quite hard to find. The super hard to find mail away Faria map is also $150-$200 if I recall. So there's absolutely no way in hell a troll that came with the game originally would add $400-$500 to the price tag.

I'd compare it to the moster found in the Monster in my Pocket CIB. For awhile there the figure alone was going for $100, not sure if it still does. I'd say the troll would be no more than $100, and I even think that'd be a high estimate for it.
  • Cool, thanks guys.

I want to say it was 500 even.   I was the buyer.
  • i was pretty sure about it but jones post started making me think i was making it up image
  • If Bronty bought it it was probably still sealed with the troll attached image

There was definitely another around that time that also ended for about $220 as well.

  • Are there any marks to distinguish a NES-troll from a normal troll? Because there were about a million of the regular trolls made... I know because my mom used to collect them at one point when I was growing up.
  • ^ good point. All someone really needs is a zip tie and a troll doll, and it could fool most people.
  • There was a discussion about this before. And yes, I thought of buying a troll just to make it complete. But, the troll does have special features and size (at least, I couldnt find any on ebay and I searched for 3 weeks)

While those items are rare they aren't required to have a complete copy. So not everyone would care. If the troll came with the game then it is required to make the game complete.

He did make a valid point with the reference to monster in my pocket which did come with a monster...

  • I remember the auction for the $220 sealed one.

I think I'd have to agree that since it came with the box originally, you need one to consider your CIB a "complete". The yellow Rad Racer glasses and the Faria map weren't. I'd be curious to see what a Faria map goes for now, as I don't think one has sold in a while? I sold my extra last year about this time, but not sure if one has publicly changed hands since.
