Sega Dreamcast price check (sorry not nintendo related)

First off I read FAQ briefly and it didn't say anything about posting non-nintendo price checks and i couldnt find a decent sega forum, so I'm going to post it here and if anyone has a problem with it than just move it to the everything else section.

I was doing my regular cl search for nes stuff and came across a sega dreamcast ad. I dont know much about this console (only sega system ive played is my cousins genesis system when i was a kid)

Anyway the ad said it came with the system+all wires+ 2 controllers+ VMU (dont know what that is)+ over 100 games for $60. I really dont know much about the sega market or where its heading, so I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me whether a) if its a good deal in general and b) if this would be a good investment for the future

thanks guys, and sorry again for the non nintendo posting, ill try and keep it nintendo related after this, i just had a feeling that this might be worth something someday.

  • It is a good deal assuming the games are legit. You see the dreamcast had a slight problem you could copy games onto cdr-s and they would be playable on the system. If the games are all legit commerical releases run to get them.

Part 2 don't invest in video games get it in, sell it off and move on to the next lot
  • I would bet that they are back-ups or at least most of them are. I see postings like that alot in Boston and am always disappointed when they follow up. Definitely check it out though
  • sega-16.com is the best sega forum. It sucks compared to nintendoage though.
  • That's a fantastic deal if the games are legit.
  • Definately a great buy if the games are authentic. I can't say with any confidence that they'll appreciate too much in value, however. There are some fairly valuable games but they are mostly Japanese only releases. Also, a VMU is a virtual memory unit, basically a memory card with a tiny LCD screen.
  • I'm willing to bet that the majority of those games will be burnt. I got a similar one, dreamcast, 4 controllers, 4 vmu's and 50 games. it was for $40, so not bad, but only 15 of the games were legit.

    Def worth looking into further.
  • yeah if they're complete and original, $60 is a steal, but mostly likely back-ups
