What is a playchoice table top worth?

The table top arcades. I can pick one up, and, dont know what they are worth. The side decals are a little faded too...can these be replaced? What should I pay?

Comments

  • I saw one about an hour from me on Craigslist for $250.

I suspect I could have gotten it for cheaper if I had wanted to make the trip and pick it up.
  • ah...okay, nevermind then image

  • I'm pretty sure the decals can be replace. Not sure what they're worth though, except that the countertop model generally is harder to find than the stand-up model. Probably makes it worth more than the stand-up.
  • Why? How much were you expecting?

I'm sure with some haggling, you could get one for $150, probably.

The price on these things also varies pretty widely based on how many and what games they're populated with.

    I doubt it.

A good condition upright with a good selection of games is $300-$400, typically (though better deals have been had).

The controls on the tabletop look really wonky, so I'm sure it's a distinctly inferior gaming experience to the upright.
  • well, its i guess not a playchoice tabletop, but it looks like one. Here is a pic:

  • Ah, gotcha. That's why I put "probably" though...wasn't entirely sure image
  • I don't even know what that is Alex image

Matt probably knows, but it might be a VS Unisystem Cabaret. I don't know what form factor the Nintendo Cabaret cabinets have, so that could be what it is.

  • Just chiming in because Alex PM'd me. image

These PC-10 countertop cabs actually go for a pretty penny. I've seen them sell in non-working condition for between $150 - $250 and in working condition from $250 - $600 depending on what games were included. In my opinion, $350 would be fair for an average game setup, $250 would be a steal. And I don't think I've ever seen one of these cabs with side art. Isn't just a gray laminate around all the outsides?

(edit) Posted my comment then went back and saw that in the couple minutes it took to post you had posted a pic.  In my opinion... that thing is hideous image  Did they just take a stand-up blue Nintendo cab and hack off the bottom?  That poor cab.  If you really wanted it I wouldn't pay more than $100 for it if it's working.  I'd pay $100 for it but then I'd take all of the insides and put them in a proper cab which could be found for maybe $50... if not free.

God that thing is ugly.  image

That's not what's in the picture.  The countertop cabs are tiny by comparison.

Yeah, just saw the pic and added an edit to my original post.
  • Ben is totally right!
  • Well, that explains why I didn't recognize the form factor image

This isn't a PC-10 cab.  It's a Vs. system "cab".... VS>PC-10 (in my opinion)  image

  • oh crap..im a retard..du...time to edit i was laughing to hard at the fact that it was cut off/down..lol
  • I agree, the thing is pretty ugly, but I couldn't find any info on it. I actually found it through another online post then I realized its also on ebay. :/

  • mmmm link didn't work? ..wait...this guy is trying to sell this on ebay?...lol
  • there were 2 of these systems recently up here in portland and both in decent shape "not cut down" and both went for $200.00
  • Holy crapballs! That is a serious abomination. I can't imagine anyone thinking that was a good idea. That cab is worth the price of the monitor, and that's about it. Yikes.

    Hahaha... yep
  • I have seen real tabletop Playchoice 10's sell for 600-1200. I paid 300 for mine with a great set of games and I have had offers for it a few times in the 500-800 range.

As per the controls comment. They are a bit wonky but the space this takes up compared to a full size is where I personally think the extra value comes in. Just my 2 cents
  • A local store called Game Pad had a working tabletop Playchoice. I played it a few times, got to minus world on SMB. The next time I went to that store, it was gone.

  • ^ I would love to own one of those!

Seems like this thread is really popular image I really had no idea wtf this cab was, as, ive never seen one this small before. Glad i asked, as, I am a noob with arcade stuffz!

Yeah, one of these is what I could have picked up a couple weeks ago for $200, probably.

The joysticks just look unpleasant to use.

  • Yeah Paul, yours is the only one i have ever seen. I never even knew they existed until i saw yours
