Need info - differences in 5 screw vs 3 screw...

Hey guys, anyone know if there are any differences in the instruction manuals that came with the 5 screw vs 3 screw editions of these games? Or are they identical?

Also, what about the map for Legend of Zelda?

Thanks!

  • This is a braveheart message image I would send him a PM.

As for rarity, I don't think there is a big premium for manuals/boxes or those 3 vs 5 screw games.
  • Metroid and Icarus should go a bit higher in their 5 screw variant form CIB because they have hangtab boxes. Carts don't vary much (if at all), but altogether the price would.

I'd estimate a Minty Metroid HT box at $10 more than it's non-HT and Icarus to be $15-$20 more over it's non-HT.
  • 5 screw games produced by Nintendo (ie: black box and silver box) do not have a code on them. Neither do their manuals.

However some of their 3 screw equivalents also do not have a code, but a code on the front cover is probably the main indicator.

  • Well, my main reason for asking is because I have a hang-tab box for the Kid Icarus and Metroid and I have the original seal box for the Zelda, but I want to upgrade the manuals I have in them. So I need to know if I can buy any manual, or if I need to look out for a specific type of manual (and map in the case of Zelda). Thus once my upgrade is complete, I will be left with a CIB that is identical to how it came, even though I've upgraded a couple of the components.

So if I'm understanding Al Bailey correctly, I do not want to purchase a manual for any of these games that has a code on the front, right?

If the box and cart have no code, then the manual wouldn't have one either.  It's a pretty easy way to see if a copy's been pieced together over the years.  5 screw games came in hangtab boxes, 3 screw games came in non-hangtab boxes, but 3 screw versions may or may not have codes.
  • Thanks wiz - where exactly are the codes located that we are talking about?
