Bought some Repro's Locally

So I went ahead and bought these.  Here's some pics I took. Seem like the member who bought it has since been banned. I'll be keeping Spy Vs Spy, but let me know if you are interested in SP2.

  • repros??? you must have another collector that lives near you.
  • Yeah, I'd pick up the Gold one, for sure. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a buyer on here image.
  • Should be pretty easy to trace who may have traded in that gold one.

    These are probably Blowback's
  • Why would they have traded them in though?

    Blowback isn't in Saskatchewan image

Anyway, there's a shop in Edmonton that  sells them too.  Collectors aren't the only ones that buy straight from the source.  Saw some NWC repros on the shelf for about $30 more than Bunnyboy charges...when I mentioned RetroUSB he said that it's where he bought them.  Can't fault a store owner from buying something and trying to turn a profit on, especially considering some people may not have access to buy them directly.
  • I can't find the thread, but some Canadian member found a Tower of Radia cart (among other repros) at a local gamestore. And Tower of Radia was a numbered release with the NA logo on the label!
  • So I bought them. Might have overpaid a bit for Super Pitfall, but I missed both releases so now I have #3 of 5 Super Pitfalls.

Does anyone know what a Gold super Pitfall would go for?

  • Yep, that's the one. Looks like the guy got banned for trying to sell a fake game.
  • Well that explains where it came from then, and why he isn't selling it online image
  • Yea, I'm guessing I probably bought his copy of Spy Vs Spy II as well. Probably got spy vs spy cheaper than it would have been. Paid $60, basically saved on the shipping.  It's in minty shape too.
  • Wow, why would you not at least put that on eBay, trading it in to a local game store makes no sense... sheesh

Cuz he owns the store? image
  • He said somebody traded it in with a couple of other mint games, so I don't think he owned it.  The owner actually was a big NES collector and decided to open a game store since he had enough inventory to get started.  He has sealed Cheetamen, CIB Flintstones 2, and a few other rare games that I can't recall.  He may actually visit these forums for all I know.

  • Lmao, I bet he didn't get anywhere near his $186 back image. I'm guessing you could still get probably around $100 for the #3 Super Pitfall II? I mean, the craze has settled down on this title a bit, but people still like to pick up these limited releases coinheaven does, and I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to put out at least that much.

If I were you, I'd put it up in the NA Auction site with your purchase price as the starting bid. Then just let it ride image.
  • Keep an eye out for a MINTY Panic Restaurant CIB and a MINTY Fire N' Ice CIB. Perfect bought my Panic and Parpunk's Fire N Ice and god only knows what else. If he's getting out of collecting, your local shop might get some gems in the near future.
  • I think they did mention he turned in a Minty Panic Restaurant. I don't collect CIB though, so I wasn't interested enough to take a look.

That was me haha. They had like 15 repos on the shelf but it wasnt anywhere near payday and I only could shell out the cash for 3 so I bought Mario bros lost levels, Holy Diver, Tower of radia.
  • nice. you should get at least half of what was bid for that!
  • Is your Tower of Radia hand numbered? There was a vendor at the MGC that makes their own repos (one of the game stores in Green Bay, WI -- can't remember which), and I'm pretty sure they have their own version of Tower of Radia. I almost bought a Zelda: Outlands repo from them, but they had too much good stuff that I ran out of money :-)
