Which is your favorite Mega Man game (NES)

What is your favorite Mega Man to play on the original NES?

I just played Mega Man 3 for the first time and it's the only Mega Man I have ever played.

What if any do you like and why. I 'de like to purchase more.

  • I love em all. It's hard for me to list them most to least favorite.

    At the moment:

    Mega Man 5

    Mega Man 2

    Mega Man 3

    Mega Man 1

    Mega Man 4

    Mega Man 6
  • Mega Man 2 is the best followed very closely by 3.

Then 4,5 1, and 6. 1 Is only near the bottom of the list because of some glitches that make it difficult to play.
  • I'd say Mega Man 3 is the best of the series. 2 and 4 are also very good.
  • 2 is my favorite.

3 is a close second. (i think it's 3, the one with magnet man)
  • I think i've only played 1-3. I feel 1 is the best.
  • Megaman 2 is definitely my favorite. I love everything about it and play it all the time. Second favorite is 3, which is also awesome. I would not say any of them are bad, this series is what got me into collecting way back when.
  • Mega Man 3 is the best in my opinion, followed by 2. I also enjoyed 6 a lot more than most people. Of course, all 6 NES games are good.
  • I say Mega Man 4, only because that's the only one I've ever played.
  • 2 is best closely followed by 3. 1 & 4 are next, and 5 is a step down from those. Haven't played 6 for a few years.
  • 2 is my favorite, 5 is my second favorite, then 3,1,6, and 4.
  • Mega Man 5 is the best IMHO.
  • looks like 2 and 3 are def. favored by many. i'm glad i bought one of the more popular ones.
  • I never really cared for any of the ones I've played, although to be fair I've only played the first 3. I don't find them bad, don't get me wrong, they're just too...I dunno, blah. Just not really my thing I guess. If I had to choose, I'd say 3, but as I said I've never played 4, 5, or 6.
  • 3 will always be my favorite due to nostalgia purposes, but I semi-recently tried 6 and it was seriously awesome. I like the inclusion of the jetpack and strong suit.
  • mega man 5 I like the best.
  • My favourite is Mega Man 4. Not only is it the first game I got CIB but I like the layout and themes of the stages/robot masters and the plot twist with Cossack was nice.

Mega Man 3 (I didn't like the robot masters as much as the ones from MM4, but still kick ass)

Mega Man 6 (I do not like the slide physics in this one, otherwise pretty cool game)

Mega Man 5 (The music feels so different from other Mega Man games, overall OK)

Mega Man 2 (It's too easy in my opinion, and the music is horrible. Yes, kill me for that, but OK)

Mega Man 1 (Too unforgiving, I easily get frustrated with this game)

Never thought I'd hear that about the music. Its arguably tre best
  • Megaman 2 cos that was the game that got my girlfriend interested (and EXTREMELY motivated) to play and (want to) finish games instead of: Aww ok now gametime is over, let's do normal couple stuff. Had to drag her away from the controller in the end!

Well the arrangements are OK, not too outstanding, but the actual sound of the music is annoying (for me atleast).

  • I have absolutely no nostalgia related to any of them, but I beat 1-6 in Winter 2008. They all kind of blur together for me, but I think 3 was the "best" simply because that was the first game with the slide. The slide is so damn awesome, really enhances the gameplay IMO.

I also liked 5 alot, and 2 for the obvious reasons. I usually like to go against mainstream opinion though image
  • 2 is way too easy to be fun for me anymore, so:

    3
    4
    1
    2
    5
    6

  • Megaman 2 is my favorite. It's a must-have game. Megaman 3 is probably second in my opinion.
  • mega man 3 is pretty fun just got done playing a lil bit more of it and if the other are like this game i'de be willing to pay $10 for each one
  • 2 and 3 are maybe the easiest of the lot, so hopefully they have prepared you for the challenges to come! MM1 is pretty tough and features few of the whistles and bells you are getting used to by the end of 3.

Enjoy, this is a great series of games!
  • My favorite is probably 6 because it's the most advanced and pushes the system the hardest, but they're all interchangeable as far as I'm concerned, with the exception of MM1.  2&3 are the favorites of most people because that was the heyday of the series.  To me, ranking the Mega Mans is about as pointless as ranking the Mario Party games, since they all adhere to such a strict formula and maintain the same basic level of quality.
  • Ranked w/ my opinions:
3 - best music, introduces Protoman, Rush, and the slide, cool bosses, you get to fight all the MM2 bosses again, plus 2nd controller cheats for some re-play value/experimentation. Were E-tanks introduced in this one too or was that 2? I forget, I mean who really needs to use an E-tank in 2, it's too easy to matter...
2 - memorable music, cool bosses, fun stages, and not that hard so it's fun to replay. A great pick-up-and-play game. I just wish Quickman stage wasn't such a bitch...
1 - first MM game I ever played, saw it at a friend's house and was totally enthralled, begged my mom to buy it (i remember thinking how creepy-weird the box art was), played over and over so many times it's not funny. Tried to be objective and rate the games in comparison to each other but I can't resist putting this in the top 3. Objectively speaking, it does have really cool weapons and the most iconic bosses.
6 - the Rush suit is fun, especially the flying one. The boss themes are getting kinda silly at this point but, I think I nonetheless enjoy it a bit more than 5.
5 - I'd almost put this at a tie with 6, it's quite fun, I really like Starman's stage and the protoman's castle theme!
4 - this one is the most bleh to me. The only thing introduced is the megabuster and that could actually be considered a mark against it - forcing me to run around with the b button held down for the rest of the series listening to that irritating buster noise, for shame!
  • My favorite is Mega Man followed closly by Mega Man 2 and then Mega Man 5.

    Mega Man
    Mega Man 2
    Mega Man 5
    Mega Man 6
    Mega Man 4
    Mega Man 3
