Atari 2600 Collection

7-11-11

Cleaning out our walk-in closets are never fun, mostly due to all the wife's clothes/crap (lulz), but in addition to that we have countless extra blankets and throws and whatnot due to many people buying the same type wedding gifts a few years back. Anywhos, Im going thru the totes with all the pillows and blankets and such and I find a tote, within a tote.  Not one from me and the wife, but one I brought from home when I moved out all those years ago.  I open it up and bam.....WTF!?  Where did these come from.  A shit ton of 2600 games I forgot about/forgot I even had.  Greanted, nothing super rare, couple uncommons in there but still.  Basically it adds an extra 30% to my 2600 collection shelf due to me being absent minded.  I've heard of people finding $20 in their jeans, or change in the sofa, but I'm much happier then that,  The wife isn't as now I've taken a break from cleaning to type this and maybe go play Oink for awhile.....

My buddy at Play N Trade says to me when I walked in just to visit today "hey I got somethin for you" I say cool. what is that? he says "blue game".  I like WTF?  BAM, whips out Menace Beach.  Then he says oh "black game too", and tosses me Pyramid.  I figured he wanted a fortune for them but he didn't say anything about price and they weren't tagged yet.  Then he says oh yea something on your wish list came in.  He then hands me a taped up shipping box. Again, Im thinking WTF?!  I open it up and Contra Force is in there.  He says "Merry Christmas, no charge".  I then ask how much for the others.......$30.  He pulled out the price tags and Pyramid is marked $15 and MB $79.  I love the guy lol.

Got all the following for $80 total.  Not pictured is the working NES, Genesis, Sega CD and N64 systems all complete With this deal I got as well. Also not pictured is the official Game Gear carrying case with AC adaptor, rechargeable battery, and system included as well...or the 20 cart plastic SNES rack and the 2 (sadly broken) wooden NES cart racks. ZING!

This being my first finds post here on NA, I kinda wish it was Nintendo oriented, but alas, true gamers and collectors can appreciate anything nice! Right!? no? image

picked this up @ The Exchange.  I was going to pass on it, but saw a massive bag of crap attached to it and made them open it up lol.  It had all the original accesories, which most X'eye you see do not.  It was that nice JVC on the controller that made me get it :-).  And to top it off, it was only $50 and came with 5 crappy sports titles including Prize Fighter!!! Not that these are THAT HARD to find, but to find in this excellent condition with all original accy, and at the price point, thats rare.

Got all this NES at a mix between Play n' Trade & The Exchange 3-2-2010.  All cleaned up awesome. Nothing crazy rare at all but excellent pricing on all of it.  Was happy to see TMNT 3 and Nightmare in there.

Total spent - $48+tax

  • congrats on the find too bad jvc has so little originality that they had to use a genny controller though
  • excellent new find today, see 1st post!
  • Nothing crazy rare? I see Crash 'n The Boys, Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt, and Pirates in there, all of which aren't exactly easy to find. Selling those three would pretty well guarantee a profit on the lot. Good score.
  • that xeye is awesome! congrats and at that price you practically stole it!

Yeah, I know Crash n the Boys was one of the last 50 games I needed. I know where 2 are sitting at a game store for $4.95 right now but of course I don't need it now.
  • Might be worth snagging them at that price just to pass them on to someone here. Not me specifically since I have it too, but someone would want it image
  • bump for my cool new children
  • Thats a nice minty Genny there! And that top loader is not so bad either! Where did you score those?

  • lady on ebay found em cleaning her mothers estate.  I emailed her right after they went up on ebay and did a offsite deal

Genny is perfect in every way.  The Top Loader just has that wear around the flaps which kinda makes me bummed but whatever, it should still grade high since thats the only "major" defect.
  • Those are beautiful! Keep us updated on how they grade out!
BTW, do they encase systems in anything after grading?
  • i would love to have that genny

yea they do, just like the games, in the solid acrylic.  Its just more pricey to get graded.  Its based on size of the box.
  • Very nice stuff! Can't wait to see it graded!
  • bump, awesome finds today 12-4-10!
