How can that be right if John was wearing the green shirt, Billy was wearing blue, and Jane was sitting between them?
  • Well I might believe you guys if Billy and John were running a Train on Jane in Denver. But srsly, how many pears?

What about when an establishment overcharges you? If we define sliding as stealing from the company (which seems to be insinuated as prosecutable), then an overcharge should be stealing from the consumer.

I bought some stuff from Giant the other day that was supposed to be 6 for $10 and they rang up at $2.50 each. Due to the volume of goods I was buying, I didn't realize the error until I got home. They "stole" $10 from me (I bought 12). So I was forced to A) Waste my gas in a return trip and B) Waste personal time standing in the customer service line that could have been spent elsewhere. Neither my time nor gas were compensated.

If it is stealing in one sense then it is stealing in the other too.

It'd be stealing if they did it and refused to correct their error.  You haven't given them the opportunity to do so.

I've kept up with this convo, and have decided not to comment until now.

Just wanted to comment, based on the above quotes.

Next time I make a purchase and get inaccurate change that results in my favor (if not realizing it at the store), I will call up the company and ask them to come to my house to get their money back. That way, they won't be wasting my time nor my gas, and I am trying to fix the situation. Chances are , I doubt it will happen over a few bucks.

Also, if they request me to bring their money back, I will tell them they will pay me 52 cents / mile traveling costs, as, that is what most companies offer.

Afterall, it was their handling error. If you drop $20 on the sidewalk, you can't expect the person that finds it to give it back. It's the old saying "Finders Keepers" as well as "Don't be an Indian Giver". Once you give something to someone, with the intention of calling it theirs, there is no turning back. image

It all just comes down to morals, basically. There is no true right or wrong answer here.

    If you find $20 fine

If you find $500 that would be theft of lost or misplaced property if you were caught.

And qix it is 7 pears 3 anjou and 4 bosc

Same reason we don't walk on our hands and our feet lack an opposable appendage.
