NES found at Garage Sale Jackpot!!

I saw a sign for a yard sale today and stopped.  And there it was, right on the front table.  The photo speaks for itself.  After seeing it and taking the picture, a kid was asking her how much the nintendo was.  She said $200 honey, its rare.  Just check ebay.

  • What a great deal!!!
  • Yeah, I just passed up a genesis that goodwill wanted $60 for the other day. Everybody has gone crazy thinking they're sitting on a goldmine
  • I offered her $300 for the NES and SMS but she would not budge...crazy person.

Damn that's to bad! That would have been a steal for that price!
  • I cant even play along with your charades! I want to shoot myself in the face when I see this crap!
  • I was thinking of trying to talk sense into this person, but reconsidered. And I cannot stand when people call mario/duck hunt and other combo games as 2 games...nes & 3 games? theres only 2 carts there...
  • you know what? That's the worst part. That she said it comes with 3 games. Definitely the worst part.
  • Wow! I was at a garage sale and saw some guy trying to sell a nes, mario, and soccer for $500 I offered him $25, he was pissed.
  • Thats brutal.

I have been stopping at a local thrift store every once in a while. They never have anything at all but finally they had one retro game. Lion King for the Genesis, marked at $40. I will never go back again.
  • lol @ $200.00
  • People have lost their mins ever since SE sold for 38k and made national news. I was at a flea market today and i saw a copy of parasite eve 2 for ps1 in a display case with a bunch of other games . I asked the lady how much it was and I heard 16.99. I thought to myself thats an ok deal maybe I should pick it up. Then she held it out to me and I saw that the price was $69.99 I just walked away. Pissed me off for the rest of the afternoon.

I know the feeling....I went to a game xchange store and from what I can tell, they aren't supposed to sell any retro game over $34.95...like they look up each game and titles are listed on a scale from 1-5. A 5 is $34.95, but I went to one about 6 months ago and they had Persona for ps1 for $179.95 plus a bunch of other overpriced ps1 games. Pretty annoying...especially when they are gouging that bad.
  • I saw Dragon Warrior for $20 at the swap meet Friday. Every Mario game regardless of the title was 15 dollars.

I work at a gxc. We dont have 1 ps1 game over 34.95. There are quite a bit for that price, but i checked the system for all snes rares and the highest they go is 34.95. Even earthbound.

I'll double check our system for persona tomorrow night.

Highest possible prices for a single used game

    NES 19.95
    Sega Genny 12.95(very seldom)
    SNES 34.95
    PS1 34.95
    N64 19.95
ANy game besides collectors editions or games that have accesssories such as rockband etc.  49.95

  • this kinda stuff pisses me off, I wish the SE never made the news.

    Agreed
  • Has anyone here actually seen something similar to that (ie: a NES with SMB/DH for $200) being sold by someone who just thinks it's rare? Better yet, has anyone here tried to tell them that it's worth a tenth of their price and that the price they're asking for is a joke?

It really does drive me up a wall to see stuff like this. Especially when their claims can't be farther from the truth...

I would KILL to find someone who would pay $200 for my NES and a worthless game. I'd sell my entire collection if they wanted it and I'd have enough to buy my entire collection thrice over.

I would like to think that most people aren't that dumb, though...
  • I see these all the time. One example, NES console + mario $100 FIRM --> http://www.usedregina.com/classified-ad/12091332
  • all I can say about this is "sigh"

just recently on Kijiji I put an ad out for wanted GB systems

woman writes me back with basic grey one saying she will trade it for a DSI for her kid or accept $150 at the lowest.

    again...  sigh
  • I have never run into this problem at garage sales, but the local Craigslist is worse than this :C. If this happened to me I would bring a bunch of NES systems to the garage sale I say, so you think these are rare?
  • Yeah if I seen that, I'd drive home, snap a picture of my shelf and be like OMG I'm a Millionaire!

    x2
  • People think old/classic = expensive. Can't blame them since car aficionados have done this to the classic car market. What people don't realize is the difference between a $200 NES that would be CIB w/R.O.B. and all styrofoam and their open and used system that will probably need a new 72" pin. Based off that picture, her NES looks in better condition then ones you might see at flea markets. She's better off putting this thing on eBay with a very good picture and getting $10-$30 for it, depending on the market.
  • Just found another great deal!  Check it out...

    http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/tag/1768514589.html
  • That's pretty "rare" I would have brought it. Not. It's sad that people are so greedy. I would have laughed very loudly then walked away.
  • Yeah...the local hype has really put a low in my collecting. I am just not going to pay the outragous prices people are asking... I have tried to tell people on CL that they are asking way to much, but all I ever get is.."Funny you say that...I have had 10 e-mails wanting to buy my stuff" Weird thing is...when I put my games on CL for way less than they are worth...never get a single hit... I must just smell bad...
  • i think it's freaking hilarious she say 3 games and has super mario/ duck hunt, and tetris, cheap ass bitch even split a double kart for an extra game, that'd be as bad as saying, 2 games, Short Order and Eggsplode, $20 dollars each, ha ha ha
  • is it just me or when people use the word 'firm' in craigslist, its just another way of saying 'im overcharging...suck it'?

craigslist and ebay I might understand for the mark ups....but a yardsale?
  • I have never seen anything approaching prices that terrible... well, maybe once a looooooooong time ago, but that obviously wasn't influenced by a Stadium Events auction that a fraction of the populace has heard about.
