Epic Find Today!

Hey everyone, I may need to change my underwear after sorting through this but I just wanted to post it and share with everyone. I took the subway to meet the guy and it was only a 4 mile walk from the station to his apartment. I got all this for $100!

Everything is absolutely, bounce a quarter off it mint. Thoughts?

  • what a deal
  • Are you being serious?
  • I'm joking. I bought a ton of games off this dude last week and he promised me he'd get the systems from his girlfriend and give them to me today. He held up the bargain but when I got there he gave me this crap lol. I've never seen dirtier, stinkier, nicotine-covered systems in all my days of scavenging. At least they were free.......right?

How could someone do that to a system? Did they just figure that it'd be a good idea to spill stuff all over it and use it as a plunger?
  • Seriously. It's disgusting and they probably barely work. The dude must be a REALLY heavy smoker cause the apartment smelled so fucking bad and there was this brown dusty layer covering everything. At least he came through. I was sure I was never gonna hear from him again
  • Throw that shit in the garbage.
  • I don't think there's any coming back from the tobacco world when it gets that far into it. The smell will be there forever. Actually, if anyone has any tips on getting rid of that smell... PM me. A couple of NES' I bought recently got it. Not terribly, so I think there's hope.

Yep, preferably the trash right outside my house.
  • Freebies are nice but I would at least give them a few coats of paint to pretty them up. What's with the 4 button NES Controllers never seen them before?

    totally agree
  • If you can get the smell off the NES games, you could send them to Paul. I'm sure he'd enjoy them.
  • that is literally dank

I'm gonna test everything out and if it's all crap that barely works I'll give stuff away for projects if people want to pay the shipping

i'd take the NES motherboard if you choose to ditch the stuff.  Have a few more projects in mind.

Unfortunately if you mail it to me it will wind up in the neighbors trash. imageOne less step if you just personally drop it off.

  • I could definitely use another NES motherboard/controller ports/power reset buttons. I personally love when I see these systems, you can always pick them up super cheap.
  • I wish my systems were in that good of shapeimage
  • pfft I coulda got that for 95.
  • Time to get your Mr.Clean magic eraser out. You could also shower the plastics if you open it up. I'm sure it would be less disgusting after all this.
  • Don't throw it away, try painting them. First I suggest soaking the cases in gallon of water with bit of bleach (should get rid of the smell to a degree). After couple of minutes or so rinse it and scrub it to a degree (more than likely you are prolly going to use sand paper one way or another). Then read couple of 'how to' articles on case painting. Also, I think painting the case would most likely get rid of tobacco smell (don't people solve tobacco smell from houses by painting?).

Remember, you could always could use a nes in the bathroom.
  • I say you smash it to bits with a baseball bat, much more fun than putting time an effort into trying to restore it.

I also heard golf clubs worked well but in my experience you don't want to damage golf clubs.
  • threads like this are annoying
  • I've gotten rid of horrible cigarette/pot smell and made games/systems minty fresh before. Here are the steps I took:

    1. Lay out newspaper/towel
    2. Place gross items on newspaper/towel
    3. Spray liberally on all sides with bleach cleaner (used to clean kitchen counters, etc) or just a heavy bleach solution (1/4 bleach, 3/4 water)
    4. Let sit for 5 minutes
    5. Scrub off with a magic eraser (I swear by magic erasers)
    6. Spray liberally with rubbing alcohol solution (1/10 alcohol, 9/10 water) and dry off to get rid of bleach smell

Make sure your magic eraser doesn't have some kind of cleaning solution in it that might react to the bleach before step 5.

man ray, i can't believe you can even joke about that.  I would cry myself to sleep for the rest of my life with what happened to that stack up.

  • Wow that actually happened with a stack-up? That really sucks. I guess joking about it easies the pain....Also thanks everyone for the tips on cleaning everything up
  • That's why I smoke outside, it doesn't harm my precious collection I've hoarded for the last half a decade. I go shopping at the dirt market and if I got those with a bunch of games, I would seriously toss that shit in the trash. Either that or spray paint it some gnarly colors and hang it in my room.

I've got the worst luck ever man. I've learned to just roll with it though. The worst blow I've had yet happened to be about 2 weeks ago.

I went out to buy a Nova wagon close to ATL ( using the money I made from selling off most of my minty collection). Well, I got to the guys house to look over the car and decided it wasn't worth the money I had saved up. I told my buddy that took me that we could go to Dave and Busters ( an adult arcade) for a bit since we had driven for a while and have some fun. I'm not sure how it happened but I managed to get $1700 swiped from me at the bar that night. I haven't the slightest idea how it happened.

Took me about 24 hours to realize it was gone and there was nothing I could do about it.. might as well not linger I suppose. :\
