RecycledGamer and Y-Bot's Finds Thread
I figured we should start one of these threads. Half the fun is bragging about what you find, right? Toby and I usually go out garage saling together on weekends so this thread can serve to cover both of us moving forward.
Summer hit us in Portland this weekend FINALLY. The garage sales were off the hook.
We hit a yard sale at 6:00 AM that ended up being one of our largest hauls ever. Not sure why they started so early, but our timing ended up being perfect. When we arrived, they had set up, but hadn't yet put out the following:

There were over 350 NES games. Apparently the homeowner was a bit of a "collector", although she did appear to play the games using the Game Axe seen in the last photo. Her sale felt a bit like one of those "Hoarders" TV show style interventions. She had several friends helping her run the sale and encouraging her to part with stuff. We could tell it was hard for her to unload so much stuff and we were as kind as possible.
Toby and I quickly negotiated $240 for the 350 NES carts and Game Axe and tossed them in the trunk before any other customers even got there. This was probably less than 5 minutes after we arrived and it was not even 6:00 AM yet! At this point other buyers started showing up, including some of our major flea market flipper competition in the area.
By this point we are absolutely beaming, but still nervous so we moved back to the garage and started going through box after box of video game accessories, consoles and more games. I could hear people asking about the NES games behind us as we dug (the were listed in the CL ad), but we both kept our mouths shut. We accumulated 4 good-sized boxes of random video game stuff and got a price of $60 for all of it. You can see most if this in the third photo.
Total spent: $300. We split the cost and the haul.
There was a large neighborhood sale in Portland's Eastmoreland neighborhood this weekend so we hit that next. We scooped up a bunch of small video game hits at probably 40 or 50 sales, plus a bunch of awesome non-gaming finds.
Next we hit some sales closer to downtown Portland. At one we scored a large bin of about 40 loose NES and SNES games for $40. Toby also snagged a super minty fresh SNES Final Fantasy III, complete and boxed for $15 or so.
Days like this are why I go to garage sales. Can't wait for next weekend.

We met another NintendoAger at the big 6AM sale. His name was Jace and he was a super-nice dude. He helped us out, pointing out a few things we might have missed. Maybe he will read this and ID himself.
I felt bad (a little ;-) that we had snagged all of the NES games before he got there.

Heya! So far the last two weekends the sales have been a bust for me. Chuck and Toby are out of hand! :-D
We rarely go to Vancouver, if that helps. ;-)
can you post a game list?
I haven't made a list yet, but I will say that there were relatively few duplicates in the lot.
