How to make paper NES cart sleeves?
I came across an interesting image of a fucnoland dust cover from nesplayer.com:
http://www.nesplayer.com/funco.png
It's mentioned in this article thingy:
http://www.nesplayer.com/collectors/index.htm
In the article it gives a link to another page that gives you instructions on how to print it out and cut and fold it. Unfortunately the images are broken on the page:
http://www.nesplayer.com/nesforever/howto.html
I tried emailing the guy that runs the site to see if he could fix the images, but he never replied back. I noticed the info in the article that mentions it is pretty outdated so there is probably no hope hearing back on it. I wanted to touch that image up and then make some of them for my loose carts that don't have dust sleeves. I thought they might look kind of cool, kind old school
Does anyone have any idea how to fold a sheet of paper into a dust sleeve or know of somewhere else on the interwebs that might have similar instructions? Or even better, does anyone know the guy that runs nesplayer.com?

Back when I was a kid we had to make dust sleeves out of a burlap sack.
Lol, I'm willing to bet we're pretty close to the same age
If you have a crummy (or maybe not a crummy) dust sleeve lying around rip it apart (or maybe look at it) and make it flat, trace around it, scan it, etc, you have a dust sleeve template
I didn't even think about that. I could sacrifice one of my plain black ones
Thanks man!
Here is a start...see if they work for now..I will try and clean them up in a program later...
Had to do it in 2 pieces since the sleeve was larger than my scanner...
All notes are in inches.
Again, sorry the dimensions might be hard to read...
The far left height is 3 1/16
All pink lines are dimension lines...not fold or cut lines...
Hope it helps
Yeah i'm an old dude. 39. If your gonna try herbs idea make sure to leave extra paper tabs on the folds that you can glue together.
Well I take back what I said, you are older than me
I have an old Funcoland sleeve that we can take apart, trace and scan...going to be pretty busy the next couple of days, but I will see if I can't do it real quick before the wife gets up.
Sweet dude, thanks!

Dude, you're my hero! I'm going to mess around with this during the weekend. I'll take some pics and show everyone the results
Got really busy this weekend and didn't have a lot of time to work on this. I managed to put together a rough draft one to verify that I had made a good working template. This one was made with regular old printer paper and has no artwork on it. It's the right size and everything and actually holds a cart pretty well. It's basically a proof of concept for me. I'm going to make some cool custom ones out thicker card stock with some bitchin artwork. I'll do some funcoland ones for sure too. I think I may even make a Nintendo Age one for fun
I'll show you guys what I come up with.
Here are some links to a pictures of the rough draft one:

Wow looks great!!! The design on the guiness cup btw I have a magnet with that on my fridge. Pretty cool got it from Ireland. Anyways keep up the good work.
Thanks! I'm going to do a Funcoland one next. Need to get new ink cartridges first though.
One suggestion: you might want the game title on the top (or bottom depending on how you look at it) of the sleeve. When I stack my games on shelves, 95% of what you see is just the top of the sleeve and the front of the cart. Just an idea. Looks like you have a fairly neat concept already though.
Here are some pictures of one I did for the Super Mario Bros./Duck hunt cart I did last night:
Side 1
Side 2
Spine
I'm not a really pleased with the way the spine came out. Need to work on that text to make it look better. Also, because standard printer size paper is slightly to small you'll notice the top of the sleeve doesn't actually go all the way to the top of the cart. It still works though :-) I've been using matte photo paper for these, which seems durable and sturdy enough to work. If I could find matte photo paper in legal size then I could actually make these things full size :-)
wow, those are pretty slick, looks like a long term project. How'd the bottom of it turn out?
The bottom on this one came out perfect. It has a logo that I'm playing around with for my side business printed on the bottom. I'll take a picture of the bottom a little later and add it :-)
FYI, the image labeled "spine" in my previous post had the wrong image linked to it. I just fixed it. I don't like the way the text showed up on the spine. I'm not liking the font or the color now. I'm probably going to "draw" the text myself to make it look more 8-bit instead of trying to use a font.
@ ZeppelinDude93, try to get a hold and PM elhector or anyone posted templates previously on this post. If you can't get a hold of them, shoot me a PM and I'll dig through my hard drive and find some that I made for ya.
I suggest anyone else who is interested to do the same since zombie threads can be a bit confusing. Mods, please lock this if you want to avoid any more necrobumps.
