  • Well yeah that is marketing, but you if you didn't know got to understand I worked for Midway for 2 years and talking to the people there Sony actually slammed them internally at studios too, nothing as insidious as the contracts the NES had on the SMS, but they used bribes (money or otherwise) and other types of tactics to get games pulled from the DC and moved to the PS2 or just outright shitcanned. A famous one that did make it online was Half Life+Blue Shift which was done for DC and whacked. The point is, as arrogant and pushy as Sony gets publicly, they historically have been very damaging behind the scenes with various flavors of shady tactics.
  • Isnt that basically paying for exclusives, if they pay to get games only for their platform(s) (at least when it comes to consoles)? In those cases, isn the companies who accept these deals also are a part of the damaging?

By the way, isnt this normal (or at least was normal, in these days games are often more expencive to make, so going multiplatform is important trying to make more money) within the gaming industry, to secure exclusive games so more people will buy they systems? Nartually it sucks for those companies who doesnt get these games on their system, but does this goes as shady business (if that is what you are refering too?) or is it normal?

EDIT: I forgot to write this earlier. About paying for exclusives, i dont see anything wrong in that image It shows that the companies wants to secure the game(s) for their customers only (and hoping that more people will buy their systems of course). I think that it is important (important for sales) for the console manufactures to have something unique content for their systems, even if it is exclusive 1st party game or exclusive 3rd party games (payed for or not).

  • Do we know what type of media 3DS is using? Are they still sticking with the cartridge style or did they finally switch to discs??? Not that it really matters too much but my one gripe buying PSP games pre-owned is somehow, even though they are encased in plastic, still manage to get scratched to shit by retarded people.
  • ^^^ It's some kind of solid-state media.
  • I would be happy seeing something similar to what we have on the ds.

Yep, eventhough PSP games are encased in plastic, they get shit kicked and I have no idea how!!! It baffles my mind how bad some are, really, I think it takes some effort to do damage to those

    games.

No moving parts (at least in my mind) equals greater lifespan, better battery life.. etc..

  • They're more or less using the same format cards as the DS does. There's an image around from NCL that shows a 3DS 'model' cart that looks like the DS ones but has a little notch sticking out sideways up towards the top unless of course it's bogus.
  • Ye, the 3DS is backward compatible with the DS (i assume?), so it is probably using some similar carts like the DS uses indeed. Unless it has a own slot of DS games, kinda like the first DS model and the DS Lite have with the GBA port image
  • Actually, the 3DS will be a different console with a different format of games closer to an SD card and will have a DS slot.
  • So there will be 2 different slots? One for DS games and one for 3DS games?
  • You are correct, jajaja. I read that in Nintendo Power and I was pissed.
  • Conan O'Brien: Ah ok, i see, thanks for the info! image
