Yeah, this place used to use IRC, but that's when someone (I think KHAN GAMES, actually), set up tinychat, so we can use our webcams and such. I think tinychat is awesome.

i have been harassed and called an assortment of nasty names this evening, all based around my IDEALS. shit is funny to me but you get the feeling that people want to overmoderate like its a thang. owell, fail handles fail, right?

We are not trying to over moderate the room. Just make sure it is a friendly environment all members would like to participate in. It has been an issue in the past where new members get ganged up on in the chat room for their IDEALS, and driven them away from NA. We would like NAchat to be a place that anybody interested in gaming can come together and CHAT with fellow gamers in peace...
i appreciate that. im being totally honest. and its an enviornment that i enjoy despite the fact that there can be haters around.
however, it seems like shit gets outta control there with various normal users drinking, drugging (often on cam), and talking trash in chat that its a double standard imposed on the status quo, by which i mean anybody who can casually come in there. its deterring to say the least.
not only that, its caused a lot of users of this forum to branch off to an undisclosed location of people that sort of detest the attitudes and outlooks, much less 'collectors ideals' of people that are going to put their own expectations on others from around here. i understand wanting to suppress attitudes that are offensive. i really do. but rules should apply to everybody and i cant say that in my limited use of the chat that its how it goes. i dont want to see beef anywhere ever. i would rather squash beef like a vegeriatn would, and if anybody ever, ever has a problem with me or anything i say, approach me privately instead of talking it up like it's some thing and i'll clarify my intents. but too often i see dudes getting picked on, shunned or even worse there to the point that it becomes awkward for everybody. that makes it no fun.
It should come as no surprise that you will encounter "collectors ideals" on NA. That being said, chat is and always should be a welcome environment, an extension of NA.
However, obnoxious music on open cam, TYPING IN ALL CAPS, racial slurs, and other behavior will be met with resistance.
Chat is fun, and that is what we should all strive it to be.
theres a lot of decent people that come on the chat and are there regularly.. and the dudes who use the chat who are kind, decent dudes...well, you can literally see on their faces how much they get bummed out when it turns malevolent or nasty.
the regulars there who 'run' it, i aint gonna name names... but those who want to act like they're above the rules or obviously dont understand what common sense rules are for a pg-13 rated chat, which is i guess par for the course when theres no moderation. i cant say i am or would be a regular there based on these heads who ruin it by being straight up rude to anybody, no matter what is or isnt said.
anybody who wants to can say anything about me, like i play some music on there or something, whatever. i probably wont make a point to try and revisit this thread for a response just the same as i probably wont go back to the chat, so go ahead and say what you want to. its no skin off my back. but some of those guys who frequent that chat are hella abusive. its really kind of weird and offputting for a casual user, and gives the honest regulars there who just want to talk about games a sketched out vibe thats eventually gonna drive em away just the same as its put me off.
