  • Finally beat Zombie Nation. Found a couple techiniques to make it through this one, and a way to kill the naked Sean Connery boss and a couple bosses very fast. I died at the alien the first time. I thought it was the ending screen! I'll post the pic of it once I get back home.

Still need to finish that last level of Air Fortress.
  • Gauntlet is still haunting me. image

But yesterday I have beaten Goal 2.

Hopefully this week I'll finally beat Gauntlet. Damn you, stage 94. image
  • Just beat Silent Assault. Super easy.. beat it the first time I played it. It was a bit similar to Rush n Attack.

  • Write me up for these two:

Smash TV - I'd buy that for a dollar!

Incredible Crash Dummies - As bad as a reputation LJN has... I've always loved this game.

You beat them or you're taking them on?  Just want to confirm before I add them to the list.
  • Yes, I beat them after reading this thread.
  • Just checking...the way you worded it had me confused. I'll mark them off image
  • Is it possible to beat High Speed? It is a pinball game, so isnt it only a high score game? I havnt tried the game much, so i dont know.

    HIGH SPEED (Tradewest)
-There is no ending to this game. The score display on the playing field
goes up to 9,999,999 points. It goes back to 0 when you go over 9,999,999
even though when you lose a ball the lives screen shows what your score is
over 9,999,999 points (like 12,000,000 or whatever). However, when you
eventually get to 99,999,990 points, your score freezes there and cannot get
any higher. There is a list of preset high scores in the game, with the 1st
place score at 51,627,910 points, but I will consider reaching the score of
    99,999,990 as beating the game.

I personally don't think maxing the score is necessary, so long as the default high score is beaten.

Joe, Legend of Zelda), I will track them separate.  Each person gets one point max for these kinds of games, however, you leave it open to other people to claim a point from it by not beating every quest...ie Zelda has 2 people listed, one for each quest, however GI Joe only has myself as I knocked off all 3 quests personally.  If you've beat Burai Fighter, let me know how many quests you've finished and I'll make note of which ones were done.  I opted for this to make it so that extra quests were optional when it's more for a challenge than anything else, but there was incentive to play through as much as possible to keep people from taking points for the standings image

So keeping this in mind, I believe I beat Magician.

Like other Taxan games (ie GI Joe, 8 Eyes, etc) it has three quests for no reason. More annoying though, unlike GI Joe, the second and third quests are EXACTLY the same, but with harder enemies. At least they had the courtesy to move the check mark locations in GI Joe.

I finished the first and second quest, but got pissed off while wasting my time with the third.

So the quests are like Low G Man's extra quests then.  I'll consider it beaten then, and note that you did the first two quests so if anyone wants to do #3 they can image
  • Zombie Nation pic I took at my parents when I beat it. Weird, weird ending. Not bad ending music though.

    Also later:

My friend Richard was playing through T2 on the NES this happened at the final boss area/battle. He somehow punched the boss below the floor, or got punched below the floor. It happened so fast I'm not sure what happened! It landed up quickly crashing the game!

Edit: text moved below giant pic so it's readable.
  • I already have you marked off for Zombie Nation man...but that's kind of fucked up there man image
  • Somebody had to take down Puss n' Boots, so I did it.  Took about 15 mins.  Weee!

    image

Also, unless someone else has called it, I'm about 50% through the Magic of Scheherezade, so I'd like the chance to finish that.

  • As promised, The Magic of Scheherazade.  Had more trouble with the final boss than I remember, still a great, great game.

  • Just beat Spelunker. Saw it wasn't done, so I decided to do it. It's pretty easy once you learn to always let go of the controller whenever you touch a rope or ladder. Easiest way to die is to misstep/misjump on one of those!
  • I'm working on Star Wars, but it may take a few practice runs. I need all of the continues I can muster for that last part of the Death Star with all of the spikes and death. To do that I need to relearn the layout of the Death Star Prison Area and avoid stupid deaths on Tatooine. It's been a few years since I beat it. Give me a couple of days.
  • As promised!  Man, I love this game.  May be one of my favorites for the system.  Tough as nails platforming, decent FP battles, crazy final sequence.  And all based on the movies that George hadn't ruined yet.

And for you completists out there...

    image
  • Gauntlet is finally done. -_-

Damn, this took MUCH longer than expected. image

Sure, I didn't play it much during the last few weeks, but the last levels are frustrating. image
  • YES! I was hoping you would finish Bea! Rock on. Any chance you took a pic of the victory screen? (I doubt I'll ever see it on my TV...)
  • Nope.

Brother took my camera with him since he went visit our parents on the long weekend.

He will be back tomorrow, so I'll try to go through those dreadful levels again tomorrow and take the picture.

Hopefully it will be easier this time.
  • If I get some time this week, and no one else claims it, I will take down Swords and Serpents. It is a time sink, so I may need the weekend. (especially if I have to take down and enter a password, that along takes a day)

Also, if we do this again next year (and I think we should, especially if we do not manage to beat them all), it will be interesting to see who claims what games right out of the gate, since this year we'll know it is coming!

Take a picture of your password with a digital camera to save time.

I can assure that Tyson's going to kiss the mat the first minutes of 2011 here.

And then Arthur will save princess Prin Prin before the sun raises. image

Photos will be posted as soon as the new year is upon us and Wiz posts the thread. image
  • wiz, is it cool if I run Swords and Serpents on an emu to save me from the egregious passwords on that game?
  • Stan, although it would save time with the passwords, there are certain things that are wiped when continuing (I believe XP is wiped to the lowest point for the current level, and your position in the dungeon is moved to spots on L1, 5, and 10 when continuing). I would have to say that save states in this case should not be allowed because of this. There is no rule stating that emulators can't be used though, only save states, so if you play it on an emulator and don't close the emulator when you're done, I would consider it the same as leaving the system on overnight (without the risk of overheating)...just to give you an idea. Those passwords are the only thing that has stopped me from finishing that game myself image

Oh, and it'll be the same as this year - no calling dibs on a game, it goes to the first person to post in the thread that it's completed. That way it's more of a race to get to the more popular titles than it is just saying "I'm gonna do this one." Also, it keeps it moving so that if someone comes in, says "I'm calling Mario 2" and then they never post again, nobody wonders if he'll be back or not.

Anyway, list is up to date image
  • Didn't beat any NES games last time, but you can add me for Wai Wai World 2 (Famicom).
  • Fair enough, wiz, you are a vicious taskmaster. I'll see if I can muster the patience to tackle it on the real system. I really hate those passwords.

I agree on the no calling dibs rule, but is it cool what I did back there with Star Wars since I was in progress on it and immediately followed up with the WIN?
  • Oh, by all means feel free to announce that you're working on something, I'm just not gonna hold off on the game if someone else calls it, especially if it's something I plan to play anyway image
  • Just got a new copy of Road Fighter. Finished it first go lol
