ipod touch database/rarity guide app

I go to alot of fleamarkets and  second hand places. i cant remember the rarity and stuff for all the games, would be great if N/A had a database app that had a check list for your collection and a rarity  chart. just my two  cents lol

  • Dain does this as a hobby, I doubt he's got time to learn how to program for the iPod, iPhone, iPad, or anything else, just to cater to the half-dozen people that would use it, especially since he'd probably offer it for free. Besides, can't you export a .txt file to it?
  • i kno he does this as hobby just would b really amazing to have. idk about the .txt file u may b able to.
  • Oh don't get me wrong, I think it's a neat idea, I just don't think it'd happen any time soon. But yeah, if you can make a text file or some other form of note for it, just compile a list of what you don't have and go from there.
  • but that still leaves no rarity guide thats the thing i want most of all.
  • Well, who says you can't MAKE a rarity list? Copy and paste is your friend man image
  • O yeah and you pointing me in NGD's direction for wisdom tree stuff helped me greatly we talked and he has some great stuff i thank you very much.
  • im bout to sound and feel like a complete moron but , i never thought about that hahaha.
  • Just download the monthly ezine to your iphone and save it to iBooks as a PDF. It works great for a quick way to access the price guide.

Price guide doesn't show the rarities though...but you could easily make something where you punch in current guide prices with a rarity listing for your own personal use.

The price guide shows what the fair price is, though, which is the more relevant thing to know when seeking deals based on price at a flea market or garage sale.

ETA: or he could just subscribe to Dan's fancy deluxe price guide that includes extra info.

Yep thanks actually I've just completed the new prices (sorry to those who have been waiting on it) and it does indeed include the NA rarities, as well as a short three-month trend. Click into my profile page for details, folks image

The spreadsheet is much easier to navigate, too, and it has premade spots to check off your wants/needs.
  • As soon as I can program objective C on my PC, we'll have an iPod app. Until then, prolly not unless someone here wants to do it.
  • Why do I have Nokia and the cursed Ovi store. Can't find a non paid PDF program. My wife has an Android phone, would steal it, but it's pink.
  • I don't know if this helps, but what I've done is created an excel spreadsheet with all the games and their rarities. I also have a long-term history for each game's "value" over the last few years, and then other info (lifetime average, 1yr average, etc.) There is also an indicator for games for which they are the lowest price over a 1 yr period and lifetime, and an indicator for games that have dropped significantly since the last period. There is a whole bunch of other stuff in there also, but I guess you could just have the information you want in there. I also have it average between NA value and VGPC value. It sounds like a lot of work but it actually wasn't that bad.

Anyway being we are using smartphones, can't we just bookmark the NA database?

  • Hi guys,

Sorry to plug my own app here but I created a NES and SNES collector's app for iphone and ipod touch a while ago. It's not based on NA data but it might be what you are looking for. I'm always open for suggestions so feel free to ask.

    Here are the links:
    NES Collector: http://nes.puregaming.org
    SNES Collector: http://snes.puregaming.org

I made a video on it as well (about snes collector, but the apps are similar in usage):

  • I downloaded your app pjvdg.. It runs very slow on my iphone for some reason.. Your prices also seem way off.
