Is classics harder or is this just my imagination

I put this to the test yesterday on donkey kong jr by itsself I can get through 10 full runs before game over on donkey kong classics I can only make it through run 7 on Jr would have compared donkey kong but I dont have the single cart version for comparision. Is this just in my head or did they up the difficulty on Donkey kong classics?

    i got both and they are the same. anyone can correct me but im a big dk fan.

    I have both carts, i'll test it out tomorrow. I suck at it either way, so I might not be able to get as far as you.

    I always thought they were the same just with a bootloader menu replacing the original.
