  • I know you want the second model, the retro mini X, the first has the buttons reversed.

i don't have one, but most people seem satisfied with the second model.

Otherwise, you can emulate with a DS or PSP, I don't think there are any other options.

Emulate. The screen on those things is kind of crappy. I personally prefer the emus on my PSP screen over those handhelds.
  • I've never seen one of those portables where the suckage side of things outweighed the benefits. I find it's either the lack of running all games for our region, poor LCD either faded/bluish/crap refresh w/blur, sound is off pitch and/or crap speakers, battery life on par with a Turbo Express(2-3hours.)

When I had one and did for a few years, I had this GBA flash cart and I jammed PocketNES v9.9 or whatever it was up to at that rate on there and it ran anything I threw at it, and the audio wasn't fubar either, and the card didn't draw the battery life down any faster than normal.
  • I don't know how much you are looking to spend but this unit makes that one look like a bubble gum machine prize.

There are a lot of options like this out there (Hell, you can use an old Tapwave Zodiac for emulation, and they are cheap as dirt these days), but I think he's trying to stay within a certain price range (i.e., not $150). image image'

The 2Wiz looks nice, for sure, though. I would like to get one myself.

  • Yeah the GP2X from what I have read and learned from owners is a fantastic device, but the earlier models weren't cracked up to it and gobbled battery and tended to stutter on 16bit and better titles. This one has a greater screen and higher level specs so I bet this would be a bitching little option for 16bit gaming and under device + it does other crud like audio and video too.
