Battle Kid (1)

Well, I finally finished up the game I was playing and whipped out BK. Holy crap, is that tough! I took so many tries to beat the first boss. I'm dying to know where the "I" key is. Then at the end of the night after seeing passwords all evening, I forgot to write any down! So I turned it back on and ripped through to the first boss again. Gah!

I know it's a bit late, but who else has been playing BK lately? Isn't it addictively challenging? I usually prefer easier, fun-style games (like Kirby). And while I love Megaman, I can only play the unfamiliar games for so and so long before the challenge gets to me. This game I played all evening before putting it down!

  • I just got the game on saturday and couldn't agree more. Password - IAMHAX0R , to even out the difficulty a bit. (that's a zero and not an o in the password)
  • Battle Kid was epic. Frustratingly difficult but its all timing so not too rough. Once you beat it you will get an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. My wife was so happy when I finished it because I stopped screaming obscenities.
  • I'm about halfway through (I think). Finally beat the third boss... Most frustrating boss ever!
  • I need to get back to this. I got the second item and almost got to the second boss but then I just got frustrated and decided to take a break from it. That was a couple months ago.
  • I love Battle Kid. I generally gravitate away from more difficult games too, but not Battle Kid. I think it's due in large part to the fact that it really feels a lot like a platforming puzzle game. I's fun figuring out exactly what you need to do to get through each room, and you feel accomplished for every continue point you hit. And it is incredibly difficult, but it is 100% percent based on your gaming skill. There's nothing cheap in there and that's what I really like about it. It's fair.  I would honestly rate it in my NES top 10. I can't wait for the second one.
  • I got past the 3rd boss and paused the game. My wife came in and unplugged the NES so she could plug her new fandangled electronic item. Havent played it since then and my wife hasnt walked since then either.

No need to break anyone's legs over it.
  • Yeah, it's totally tough, but fair. The continue points are a godsend! (Don't let that get to your head, Sivak. image ) And the feeling of accomplishment for each screen passed is huge. But as tough as it is (so far), every screen is do-able, and after the dozen times through the first couple after the checkpoint, you start blazing through what used to be really hard. It's a really cool setup that way.
