Anyone else here play Tetris on Facebook?

Just curious here...does anyone else play Tetris Friends on Facebook?  I do...I know Thor and Robin do (btw, you two...I'm ahead of you in Marathon image )...wondering if any others do.  The game itself plays somewhat similarly to Tetris DS without T-spin triples and infinite spin (at least the Marathon and Ultra modes do...I can't really speak for the other three, as I haven't really played them).

In case you're wondering, my high score in Marathon mode was 707,783 image .

  • Tetris Friends originally was a cool website and it even had a flash version of old Gameboy 89 tetris, was this moved over into facebook land?
  • ^ I'm guessing that '89 GB Tetris would be the mode they call BlockStar or something like that now...it certainly seems to play like that.
  • impressive sir. I better get to work to leapfrog you back

Nope it's called Tetris 1989 as I just loaded up tetrisfriends.com and it's still there.

Marathon has the silliest scoring system I've ever seen.  Did you realize that you don't get more points for Tetrises?  It seems that way, but on the left the goal-thing is what advances the levels and getting bonus points for multiple lines just takes away from the goal number more..... and consequently advances levels faster.
The ideal strategy is single combos then tetrising when the number hits 1 (back to back tetrises when it's at 9)

thats why all finishing scores seem to end from 680k - 700k
  • ^ That would also explain why the Facebook-wide leaderboard seems to favor singles and T-spin doubles (scores in the 800k+ range, especially). I think you get something like 1250 points for a T-spin double anyway (versus 800 for a tetris or 1200 for a consecutive tetris).
  • t-spins on this version are also not anymore points. Instead of lines dictating the level change, its points (they call it goal). So you just advance as fast as you score.... its basically a contest to see who can score 700k period. I was told about 2 ways to "abuse" the scoring though.

    1. the scoring rounds down, so when you get a back to back single it's 100, then 150 but its scored as 1 and then 1. So consecutive singles is a good bet until the counter gets low....

    2. once the counter is at 1, you can score as high as you want and that score doesn't carry over to the next level. So single it down to 1 "goal" left then get your tetris. Or more refined, down to 9, then back to back tetrises. watch a replay of my sloppy game to get an idea. image
