NBA Jam (recent release) impressions?

what do people think of the new NBA Jam release?
much like the old one when it came out for snes or genesis. or better.

Comments

  • I'm very interested, I'm a huge NBA Jam fan (which is odd for someone who has no interest in the sport!)
  • Considering I haven't bought a current-gen game in quite some time, this and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 might be my next "big" purchases.
  • I'll wait for it to come out on XBL Arcade for like $15 in a few months. The Wii version is $50 and doesn't even have online multiplayer if I remember correctly.
  • Yeah I was excited for the Wii version, and it looks fun, but I won't pay the full $50 for it when it doesn't even have all the features.

You are correct.  No online play for Wii.   X360 and PS3 are suppost to get a stand alone release this fall now that NBA Elite has been delayed.
  • I love the Wii version. They did a wonderful job reinventing it for the new age. Not sure it's worth $50, but it's really good.
  • controls suck, cant use claasic controller witch is the correct way to play this game imo, no online
  • I was excited but it didn't seem to offer enough for $50, so I went and got the original (non-TE) for SNES at the flea for $3 and I've put a few games on that instead which was quite fun.
  • I own both regular and TE for Genesis, regular for SNES, and TE for Game Gear. I love the games, but seeing how some people are talking about it, I think I'll pass on this one.
  • I'll look into this when it gets released for the PS3
  • This started off so promising; vc/dlc remake of a classic, with the right amount of attention paid to what made the original so great.

Then I heard you had to buy an actual sports game to get it.

Then I heard it was released as it's own game for full price.

    They really, really blew it.
  • i was thinkn about renting it. didn't know there was no online but its no fps. side note the all new 1 of a kind custom trackd mario kart is good n online (need a softmod to play).

to the comment on marvel vs capcom 3. playd it at Comic Con w all the wii line up but no nba jam. worth a purchase. Kirby not so much reminds me of yoshi's story for 64. while i do like that game i'm gonna pass on it. get mickey, goldenye n dk.
  • So out of all the people in this thread, I'm the only one who's actually played it?

And taco.  Why don't you do some more research?

  • While the price tag is pretty steep, it does look like a fun game. Besides you could always just rent the damn thing. And IMO, online is overated. Having people around you while you kick their ass at games is much better! lol.

I would avoid NBA Jam from a new purchase n wait til the price goes down. More of a rental, from my experience with it these past few days. The music of all things is repetative while playing.  A big factor if you like to listen to the sound and music of a game while experiencing it.  I had to turn it off it got on my nerves, Cool Spot had more depth in music then NBA Jam.  you'd think considering ea had the rights to legit teams and players they would made it more overall polished game.  Granted it's a arcade style bball game.  It didn't wow me like the originals did.  If they could fit the content into a WiiWare, it would be on that market to sell.
7/10 overall in my book, no online play which is needs for a 2 on 2 game.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 i would buy definately. I played it at Comic Con.
