Forum Spammers
Can we set a post limit for new users, such as EWJ55Fuyuki, so they can just post stupid nonsense in every thread imaginable? It'd be one thing if the posts were useful, but seriously.... maybe 10 posts an hour until you reach 100 posts. This is ridiculous.

There have been many conversations about new users coming on here and posting their little hearts out. I think the mods are doing a pretty good job of keeping everybody's posts to pertinent info...not just the newbies. I have been a member of a lot of forums that up your post limit by # of days you are a member...but having a free to post site like this encourages the newest member to feel like they are part of the group. Both ways are good and bad.
But its pretty obvious he is just posting that much to "level up", not to be helpful.

Some people tend to post too much, but as long as they have something meaningful to add to the conversation, so be it. Spammin one line answers in an effort to earn a new inconsequential token is much different.
Naw, but really, there are just some people (myself included) that like to post alot. I've always been the kind of person that always has something to say, or an opinion on everything. Now, if all the posts this person is making is obvious that all they are trying to do is improve the post count and level up, then something would have to be done.
I was waiting for someone to mention me in this thread :-p

I have noticed that your post count is through the roof for being on less than 6 months...but after reading many, many of your posts...you usually have something pertinent to say...
I just don't understand how you have that much time in the day to type it all out sometimes
If you guys don't think someone is posting well enough, why not just foe them? I'm pretty sure the page of new posts would be ignored if you did so. It would be better than punishing people for being enthusiastic or for not being as great as the rest of us at writing on the internet.
Because someone posting in every thread with no pertinent information to the OP/topic/discussion just to bump post count is as bad as spam. Saying shit like "I don't know" or "never heard of that before" and leaving it as that, just to boost post count should be a punishable offense on forums.
I've always hated seeing posts that are just "+1" or "+X" with no actual content. I've always been a firm believer that if you have nothing to add to the discussion, then don't post. I try to make sure all of my posts have at least 3 sentences, and not just a few words, though on occasion it happens because there's nothing else to say.
Anyway...

Lol i'm a pretty quick typer. Always was star of my class when it came to typing class, over 100% grades in all of them.
Back when I used to GM on a private WoW server, there were a few guys on our forum that would post constantly the sentence "I do not know the answer to that question", which is obviously just trying to get a post count in. Banned sauce.
there are a lot of "new" users in the past year who have 2-4k posts. they write so much, but say nothing.
yes, you could foe, but that's more like ignoring the systemic problem @ NA. these "everything else" posts spring up over every topic imaginable and everyone has something to say. a mod once told me "if we just had people post about nintendo, this would be boring" but that's why I come here- for nintendo posts.
so fifty people are going to say "then don't read other people's posts" but that's weak. again, it's ignoring the transformation from a gaming informational/fan forum to someplace where the guy from florida gives 4 posts in a row about some random current event. how many "my ___ died", "i feel bad about ____", "this is great/horrible", "I believe ____, let's argue about it" posts can one read? who cares what some twenty-something from florida thinks about 'don't ask, don't tell?'
how bout posting about the NES, about challenges, about collecting? About the auctions, the NA auctions, how much we hate those Sega nutjobs?
AND another thing. When did people get so lazy and stop searching? How many < 10 posters ask "what's the best method to clean games" or "how do you store your games?" SEARCH.
yeah, I'm andy rooney.

edited for formattingThat is one I have also been noticing a lot lately. Maybe we can prevent newbies from posting till AFTER they have spent 5 minutes logged on to the FAQ's...
Then again...it really is not up to us is it....

edited for formattingI agree with this about 90%. Simple things, such as cleaning games, absolutely. As for other things/topcis - there could be a 4 year old thread, completely inactive for those 4 years, and if someone bumps it, people lose their foreskin because they bumped such an old thread. In those cases, the poster is in a lose/lose situation because either side of the elitest group will flame them one way or another.
But, on the other hand, some people need to learn how to help themselves before asking others for help. People get on the road to asking, and they never look for themselves beforehand.
How do you get in the chat?
I did not know that SHIP knew the forums existed. I thought he only knew about chat
Like: "How do you shelve your collection"? This usually leads people to post a few pictures of their setups, and can be informative. It seems annoying at first, but you should know this question is bound to come up every 6 months anyway.
"What's the value of XXXX game?" - Even when repeated, it is cool to watch the price of a game fluctuate. Maybe a game is worth $200 today, but only $100 when it was posted 18 months ago. I like tracking stuff in this way.
So not all repeat questions are offensive. I really don't mind answering them over and over when you get to see a lot of new opinions with each wave of new members.

This thread reminded me of the thread I linked above. It's the same kid from over a year ago, and it's just hilarious.
