My first console that was mine was an NES, that was my Dad's before that. Then my Dad bought us an SNES and gave me the NES. Also had me a Genesis as well.
My brother and I got an NES Action set from Grandma for Christmas, but I don't remember what year. We had it for a while and then got a Genesis. Sold the NES at a garage sale with all of the games for like $20. I would go back and punch my young self if I could now!
i got an NES a little before it came out in 1985. my friend's dad was a truck driver that had a load of these on his truck for delivery. a box "fell off" the truck and he gave my family one. I actually remember playing it even though i was 5.
NES, Probably somewhere are 1999ish. Had like 26 games, dad got it out of the trash and fixed the connector back then and been playing games ever since. I freaked out when I got my N64 though, my first new game system Had glover, I played so many hour on that game it's probably a better statistic left unknown.
My first console was a ColecoVision, received for christmas of 1982. It was listed in the catalog for $225! At the time, I wanted a 2600. I had seen the Coleco in store, but never even mentioned wanting to get one. I just wanted a 2600. Apparently, my parents were smarter than I, and went for the ColecoVision with the 2600 adapter.
I sold that system and 7 games a few years ago for $50.
A Famicom, in the summer of '84. I remember my dad telling me "These are sold out everywhere in Japan! I had to twist arms for this!" I didn't even know what the hell it was! Anyway, I still have it and I still play it.
NICE!
My first was a US NES like most. However a few months later my grandmother bought me a Family Computer during a vacation overseas. At the time didn't realize there were certain games only available in Japan or that most came out there first. Still have that original famicom as well. Good times...
My first console was the NES. I was 5 and it was 1988. My moms friend had bought one a few months prior, and just didn't like it. So she gave it to us! I can still CLEARLY remember playing super mario bros at her house, the first time I had ever played a video game. I can remember every detail (down to the awful wood paneling on the walls). My parents were both relativly young (mid 20s) at the time, and the NES was huge in their social circle. My dad's friend even had a HUGE NES game copier (although he could have been lying?). But I would always get new games after my uncles, or parent's friends would get bored of them. I always wondered if the NES was big with adults in general, or my parents and their friends were just weird.
The 1st system I ever played was a 2600 my cousin had and although I eventually ended up with the system it was not my 1st console. I got a bunch of money for Christmas/Birthday in '87 or '88 and bought a 7800. About a year later I got a NES for Christmas. I still remember going to Kay Bee and picking out my 7800 and getting the NES at Christmas very well.
Wow! I'm such a noob. I bought my NES and SNES, N64, sega master system, and dreamcast in 2008. And then I got a genesis in 2009. Well I am only 14, so that explains something.
Well, I'm 20 now, and started "collecting" when I were 11 years old. That's when I got my hands on a Commodore 64. I shortly after got an Atari 2600, so that is probably the first proper video game console I owned, hehe. Around the same time we had a PS2 in the house, but that one were not 100% mine.
The NES followed shortly, Super NES on launch, and boy did *that* system change things...
Wow I didn't think anyone else had a Socrates! I had one shortly before I got my first NES. My Mom probably bought it for me and my sister because it was educational. Short on fun though. That system gathered dust pretty quick after we got the NES.
My first console i got when i was around 3.... It was the Atari 5200. Awhile later I got a 2600 and played it more than the 5200. Then got the Nes Action Set when it was released and life would never be the same...
First console was the snes. I still remember the day I got it. I was four and we just dropped my cousin to the airport and for some reason my mom was like "do you guys want an snes". And just like that my mom bought me and my sister the snes and Power Rangers the Fighting Edition.
