Adding titles to the NA database

I already mentioned this in the "Help Wanted!" section, but I'll leave the suggestion here as well, since it's the most appropriate section.

How about a tool that would allow users to upload game info into the NA database?

As you probably know the PAL NES game list, for instance, is incomplete. Just going through my tiny collection I was able to find almost 20 titles that weren't included. I made a list with the titles, codes and added photos and sent them to a mod (Mario's Right Nut), so he could upload them. If there was a tool that would allow me to do this by myself, I wouldn't have to annoy one of the mods everytime I find one of these games.

There could be for example an online form that the user would fill-in with title, code, publisher, etc, and he would also have to provide photos or scans. The way I see it a user would only be allowed to upload game data if he provided photos, to prove that the game indeed exists. This way the mod team would only have to supervise the process.

In the collection tool we can actually edit a game info, changing its region, code, etc. If there was a way to upload this kind of info into the database, that would be great.

Hope you like my suggestion image

  • I am a regular on another database site (videogamegeek.com) and all of the data is user moderated. Any changes (data, photos, etc) or submissions are put in a queue where any other user can vote to accept or reject it. It isn't perfect, but it works in the vast majority of cases. I was surprised to find that nintendoage has some sort of manual acceptance policy for data and doesn't allow direct user updates. No wonder the database has mostly nothing but the basic info.
  • Well the database is just for games and variants, if you want more details visit bootgod for PCB specs and such.
