What do you think think are the 5 most undervalued NES games?

Hello all. Not sure if a thread exactly like this has been done before. I watch the ebay scene and the off ebay scene as much as anyone and I was curious to see what everyone considered the top 5 most undervalued complete in box NES games on the market to be. My top 5 looks like this

Gyromite big box complete. Most people outside of this forum don't realize the rarity of a big box gyromite. Very rare item. Doubt this will go up too much ever, but it is still one of the rarest NES games

Wayne's World complete. Very rare box, yet seems to be priced around $25 to $65 complete. I see this one going up slightly, but very little. Its rarity really is not reflected in its price.

Color a Dinosaur complete. One has not shown up in a while, but when it does show up, it goes for less than its rarity would show compared to other titles. Not the rarest game to find complete, but pretty tough to find in nice shape. Underpriced probably considering its rarity.

Best of the best championship karate complete. This game goes for $25 or so complete. I honestly dont understand this price at all. Its rarity should make it a $50+ title. I do see this one going up some. Rare game to find minty and complete.

And lastly, Pro sport hockey complete. Does not go cheap, but rarely shows up. When it does show up, it seems to top out at $55 or so. Very rare title to find in nice shape.

What does everyone else think are currently the most underpriced complete titles for the NES? I am curious to see what others think on this topic. Let me know image

Thanks,
Sara

  • yea i agree with yours but id have to say M.U.S.C.L.E. cib instead of best of the best.
  • I actually almost put Muscle. I managed to get a sealed one long ago before realizing its true value. I traded it off for a complete one and some other items. Just recently managed to finally get the sealed one back. Very rare to find sealed or mint. Similar to the chubby cherub situation.
  • yea ive been trying to find it lately and have realized how hard it is to find.
  • I'd say your list is pretty dead on Sara. When I read the topic title I immediately thought of Wayne's World and Pro Sport Hockey.
  • I agree on them too. There a are a few more that I think fall into this grouping too like Kid Klown or Gozilla 2 even. Hard as shit to find, but doesn't bring in a huge price.

I just picked up a MUSCLE box yesterday in fact image

  • I agree with your list completely, and I might even add a few and make it the Top 10:

    Motor City Patrol

    Nigel Mansells

    Numberland

    Power Blade 2

    Cool World

Though, Power Blade 2 is becoming more valuable by the day.

  • Well with so many titles in the library, there are actually a lot of tough CIB's to find that go under even collector's radars. Similar to Wayne's World, Last Action Hero and Die Hard are also tough to find nice boxes for, along with much of the Ocean set, but when you do find them they usually go for bargain basement prices. I was also going to mention MUSCLE and some other early releases too.

And good pick with Numberland Dain; I've been doing searches daily for a while now but that damn box seems to have gone into hiding as of late.
  • Pro Sport Hockey
    Alfred Chicken
  • what about sesame street 123/abc and king of the ring
  • Bandai seems to be know for their scarity of games/boxes/manuals.
  • What about RC Pro AM II, Firehouse Rescue, and Gun+Nac?

  • I have to say the discussions like this that are happening especially on this site but also on others are really satisfying to me personally... I've known about these being hard to find sealed for a long time now but it always seemed like I was the only one that cared! Cool to see a bunch of other people figuring out what's harder to find as cib or sealed and going after it.

I would kind of disagree with motor city, firehouse, gun nac, and cool world though... not as hard as the rest.
  • Nigel Mansells I think this is the most overlooked and least thought of game complete that is a lot rarer than most would think.

But with most items it seems they fly under the radar until we start a bunch of disscusions about them.

there are lots of games like this. dozens. NGD rightly pointed out godzilla 2 and kid klown, for example.

You're right that discussions help the value. But that's a good thing - people are starting to understand what should be more desirable, in my view.
  • So I guess the sealed copy of Nigel's I just picked up for $10 was pretty good then image
  • What about TMNT Tournament Fighters?
  • Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt is pretty undervalued! It's easily worth $.10, but I tell you I've been getting them for free lately!
  • I think the theme here is games that basically don't sell for prices that reflect their true rarity. TMNT Tournament Fighters tends to fetch pretty high prices CIB, and it's popular, so that would take it out of this category IMO. And some of the games it's difficult to gauge their price range, simply because they don't show up often enough to monitor them (ie, Numberland).

Ironically, people tend to treat this cart as junk, but I found that if you auction it off as "Super Mario Bros. + Bonus", you can easily get $5 for these all day long. I mean, seriously, it has one of the greatest games of all time on it.

  • I love SMB! I usually sit down with it every few months and have a run through! Easily worth $5 to the right person that enjoys it for what it is!

    exsqueeze me?

I take you and nistle bought yours from the same guy, then?

can you pm me about this? I might take another couple copies for the hell of it if the price is decent; if he has more.
  • I'm not sure if it was the same seller or not. I didn't get mine from ebay though.

  • Sara's list is pretty dead on with the exception of Color A Dinosaur as I seem to have no problem finding that game complete or sealed at that having found 2 different sealed copies for sale and 3-4 complete copies. Here's my list:

    5. Pro Sport Hockey

    4. Lethal Weapon - Maybe it's just me but I don't seem to see the box for this hardly ever

    3. Nigel Mansells - I've been looking for this for a while. Someone hook me up with one of these sealed copies!!

    2. Wayne's World

    1. Numberland - Dang, I knew I should have grabbed that last complete copy on ebay or that sealed one from Mike.

Numberland has to be one of the toughest dang boxes to ever find. I've seen one MAYBE two boxes in the past year with the manual rarely ever showing up as well. Heck the cart doesn't show up as much either. Jimmy Connors Tennis is pretty hard to find complete as well even though it seems several copies have been turning up as of late. Finding the manual for it is the toughest though especially finding it in mint condition.
  • I think the Big Box Gyromite goes for a pretty high price, anyone think it should go higher?
  • lol, yes, it should. its one of the rarest NES games to find complete. should be worth $300+ easily.
  • I received an offer for $400 for my double a while ago (before I traded it), and think it could sell at that price very easily. I bet if I listed mine in my store at $500, it would be gone in a week or two (not that I plan on it!).

  • I got the last one on ebay in a lot (burdger got the last one on ebay with a BIN) and the lot was fairly publicized and went for well under $500 and hot a lot of other stuff in it (including a stack up). I really dont think they would pull $500 on ebay. If so, I need to toss one of mine up there image I also bought a NEW canadian one on ebay via auction and it went for less than $200. this was not TOO long ago, either.
  • I think it is worth around 300-375. I offered burdger 100 + a test cart but he wasn't interested. So my offer was at the 300 mark give or take a little. This is my top want right now too, man I want one.

Care to make a wager? image
  • I got my -CAN one pretty cheap also, about 2 months ago. There was a -USA one up the same week, I should have won both damn it.

I think if one sets in a store for a while then it might sale for 500, but I think it would take a while. I just hope poeple don't realize they are quite so rare until I can at least get me one image
