That's what I thought.  Guess the MM games are on the list along with SMB 1 and 3 for games that everyone on the planet liked except me image
  • Now your avatar makes sense!
  • I don't find 9 to be that hard either. The only time it starts getting difficult for me is on the Dr. Wily levels. On the second one there are a few really annoying underwater jumps that kill you instantly if you miscalculate. Also the fact that you can't save is more frustrating than hard, cause you have to play through all the levels again if you're over it and want to turn it off.
  • I also happen to enjoy games that nobody else likes. Like Conan...find me another person who actually plays the game for fun and I'll give you a handjob! image
  • Well, I actually enjoy that game so looks like you can whack me off as I play it. Let's do this.
  • Alright, but I'll have to borrow your Power Glove...I don't have one image

EDIT: Incidently, you ever beat it legit?  I swear that's my personal favorite gaming accomplishment image
  • You know, I honestly can't remember if I beat this game. I remember it took me forever to figure out the first boss without the manual and the controls took forever to learn. I seem to remember I beat it with no cheats, but it's been awhile. I'd prefer Power Pad over the glove, less friction. Question is, ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH TO USE IT?
  • The manual wouldn't have helped you anyway. Doesn't say a damn thing about what to do anywhere in the game, not even veiled hints. The worst part though is getting the axe at the end...4 pots, gotta put them in the right sequence, and if not, you die. And with no way to gain lives, and in all likelihood having lost a life or two along the way, that's like the game giving you a big FUCK YOU in the face with a shovel. The ending may suck ass, but I've never seen another one that I was so glad to see.

And I don't think I'd want to use my own Power Pad for that. I don't want to contaminate it with your man-gravy. Yours is already in such a state though, so I would gladly use that. Hell, I could probably reprogram R.O.B. to do it for me while I school you at Conan image
  • Wait, doesn't it tell you the basic movements and such? That's what I meant. I was so excited to get to the second level the first time I did it. The change of scenery was welcome.
  • Oh, yeah it tells you that. It just doesn't tell you that you have to kill skeletons to acquire the sword to chop down the hanging skeleton to start spawning the demons that you need to kill with fireballs acquired from killing imps in order to get the pitchfork required to kill the chimera. They expected kids to figure that out, all while dealing with a shitty control scheme. Yeah, obviously someone dropped the ball on that one...takes a special kind of person to get past those kind of flaws to find the awesomeness behind the game. Kinda nice to see a game that long that reuses all of one enemy throughout the game (the imps on level 1 and 2 get pallette swapped for level 5 and 6, otherwise every level has unique foes). Kind of a refreshing change.
  • If anyone here has gotten Mr. Perfect on MM9 you are insane!
  • I just realized that the ending music to Mega Man is the same tune as the opening music to Mega Man 2. That is damn cool.
  • I now have 4/6 Famicom Rockman games. Plus the Mega Man board game Wily and Light's Rockboard: That's Paradise. Just two more to go.
  • I didn't know about the Elecman weapon glitch until just these last few years. I laughed when I tried it for the first time.

Reading through this thread, I find it interesting how so many people have a specific Mega Man that is their least favorite in the series. For some people, it's 4. Others, it's 6. Even the original! Personally, for me, it was 5. I think.

  • Yeah, 5 was pretty damn weak. Gravity Man was, admittingly, an awesome idea and a pretty cool stage overall, but that's the only gimmick in the game that really worked.
  • Mega Man does indeed = fun. It's a mathematical constant.
  • Mega Man 3 was the toughest for me, simply because it was longer than any other in the series. The revived MM2 bosses weren't very forgiving and a number of the powerups were rather useless. (Top Spin? Please.) The reappearance of the Rock Monster pissed me off the first time; I thought I was done with him after MM1!

I'm abnormal in that Mega Man 5 is my favorite in the series. I didn't find the robot masters to be that derivative, the level designs were pretty sharp and the music was a solid 8.5/10. I LOVED the ideas of Charge Man and Star Man, even though Star Man could've done more than just shoot a shield around. Wily's Castle was enjoyable and there wasn't any asinine bait-and-switch like in MM4. You always kind of knew that Protoman was being framed and would come to the rescue when it mattered most.

Mega Man 7 is my least favorite. I found nearly every robot master to be a cheap knock-off of a previous idea in some way. It seriously bugged the hell out of me that Shade Man had a nose. It broke kayfabe in a very noticeable way. Turbo Man wasn't nearly as fast as he should've been. Cloud Man's lack of a lower body looked entirely wrong. Freeze Man was just another in a neverending line of ice-based enemies. Junk Man could've been a pretty cool robot but they defaulted to the stupid shield idea with him, so he was just Woodman-lite all over again. I didn't mind Wire Man but I couldn't help feeling like they just stole the idea from the Wire Adapter in MM4. Slash Man was an okay master, since he was pretty fast and took some practice. Burst Man was just a slightly-more-aggressive Bubble Man, and that's still pretty sad. The biggest flaw was only being able to select four robot masters at first. It was a huge deviation from the known formula and I felt severely limited. The music was pretty uninteresting, mostly because the SNES sound chip sucks. The entire game felt rushed.
  • The first Mega Man game is the best game ever!! image

Havn't played Mega Man 9 so much as Mega Man 10, which I like better, mainly because I played MM 10 before MM 9 and I like the music in 10 but not in 9. I only have Mr Perfect in MM 10.

Many have MM 3 as their favorite. That I can't understand. I think that the most boring of them all, or on same place as Mega Man 4.
