1. Yes, I understand satire, but there's a difference between CLEVER satire, and the same thing over and over. Thus, not subjective, merely fact. Then again, if you like the same jokes over and over, which you obviously do, then I guess it is subjective and I'm glad I'm not you.
2. The mistakes aren't part of the humor, he just doesn't know. He made some mistakes previously on discussing the history of Wisdom Tree (I think that was the video). It's just lack of knowledge.
3. Irrelevant details can be hilarious. But it's clear he has no true connection to some of the games, he's merely picking out things to make it seem like he's in character when really he doens't know what else to do with it.
4. My issue now is not just that he's rushing stuff, it's that he's clearly being told now and then to review this and that. Back in the day, he'd pick a game and have at it. Now, they sometimes ask him to do things, and this ruins his creative ability, as it would with any artist, filmmaker, etc. For example, a few years ago he did a horrible video on Independence Day for the Playstation. Why? Because he was asked to, and as far as I remember he even apologized for this shitty video because he didn't know what in the hell to do with it.
5. I don't want to make a video, why did you even bring that up as an argument? IF YOU CAN MAKE BETTER VIDEOS YOU GO MAKE YOURSELF MEAN MAN. Why? I'm free to criticize poor creativity and redundancy, just like any critic. What does me making my own videos have to do with anything? And, actually, being that my band uses retarded live visuals that run in-synch with our songs, I actually do know how much work it takes, but that doesn't mean I can't criticize it, in fact I should criticize it more because it's clear in this newer film he didn't put as much effort into it as some of his previous work. But why does that entail that I should make videos? It's like saying you can't criticize a work of art because you never painted. Who gives a shit?
I don't really know who are you responding to in each point, it appears to be a mix of responses to me and Retrosnow? I guess your first point was to me, in which case I'll kindly ask you to count to ten and take a deep breath before posting (your comment actually made me giggle). I wasn't really arguing about the quality of his comedy (which you seem you never liked from the beginning of his "stupid" career), I just say the man makes me laugh... Is he a comedy genius? No, he isn't. I believe he should stop making AVGN videos at some point in the near-medium future, since using the same premise for over six years is gonna drain his brain. Right now he's still funny to many people, but I don't see it lasting much longer.
So, I'll just say, whatever man. If you don't like his show, it's your right, and I even agree with some of your points. But your tone at me is just disrespectful, and that kind of thing will make people not take you very seriously.
To say he puts less effort into his videos now is just ridiculous. That is as far off as you can possibly get. You make not like his videos now, you may think they have gotten worse. That is all fair opinion. It is however very obvious the amount of effort that goes into these has increased 100 fold since his Simon's Quest video.
Perhaps... he's planning to end at 100 episodes with ET, the worst video game ever made. Then he'll move on to other things.
As far as this video goes, I thought it was fun. The vacuum was pretty damn funny. I agree, sometimes it seems like he's nitpicking just to live up to the character (black hair Luke is definitely an example of this). I haven't been a long-time AVGN fan, as I only started watching them last August. Having watched them all in a relatively short timeframe, I agree his production values have increased at the expense of some of the good old-fashioned bitching at shitty games. This episode brought some of that back. Personally, I think his best reviews are on games that are already pretty laughable, and don't need high production-values to make the review good: the Zelda CD-i games, Plumber's Don't Wear Ties, Atari Porn, the Bible Games. Those are the reviews that really stand out because there was ample material to really go with. There's been a lot of "filler" episodes in the last year or so, and while the Star Wars episode was enjoyable, I think it falls into this category, too.
I like his stuff a lot. I don't place high expectations on the humor, he just manages to keep things interesting. I enjoyed his documentary about all the Philadelphia filming locations for the Rocky films, which doesn't try to be funny. After seeing that I decided to actually start checking out all his game stuff... and it rules!
I like to see someone talk about and interact with sometimes-obscure gaming media that interests me. The experiences he films are very relatable, so it's great seeing someone talk about this stuff too. I don't expect his videos to like, validate any opinions I have on any games or have the best poop jokes.

Hahahah, I like all the defensiveness.

Says the guy with Adventure Time avatars. I'll give you that, it's a good show, but now we are mortal enemies.
hope you raised your fist with anger when you said this.
It was more...LIKE THIS.

Man, all I can say is that guy must have a hard time wiping his ass. Ouch.
