Hey...I have an extra icon under my name...cool . Wait a sec: does that mean I have to write one *every* month? I mean, it's not all the time I get on a roll and talk forever . I could probably do for every other month or so, maybe more of a "special guest writer" sort of thing...
Nope, you're roped in now, sucker!!! J/K -- it just means you've contributed as a writer... you don't have to do one every month, but every now and then would be great.
I actually used to enjoy Dyas of Thunder and played it quite a lot (way more than 1 hour). It's a very challenging game (hard to get #1 spot) and the pitstops are a nice break. But I did enjoy the article and agree with most in it, except that DoT cannot be the worst game on the NES.
There's no doubt - every game in the library is fun to someone. I bet countless children have whiled away dozens of hours guiding the baby jesus on assback past falling rocks. But that doesn't make King of Kings a good game by any real level of comparison.
Certain genres appeal to individuals, sometimes themes (like a slick action movie) can add a deeper dimension to an otherwise bland game. But these are marketing aspects that lead customers to project on top of a game; licensing a movie "adds value" to an otherwise boring lap-racing game. I think it's grand that you enjoy this game. Let me tell you, I enjoy some real stinkburgers too (I always had a soft spot for Mystery Quest in particular) but that doesn't make it good in comparison to other games, on any sort of impartial way.
You know...you guys all talk about playing your games... The only ones I really sit and play are games that either I grew up with or grew to like. One of these days, I'm going to have to sit down and actually play (at least 5 minutes per) each game I have that I haven't yet played, so that I'm able to relate a bit better when you guys say "this game sucks", "this game is one of the hidden gems", etc.... I've never played Days of Thunder, I've never played King of Kings, and I've never played the preeminently terrible Action 52. But one of these days, I will (or at least try), even if I'm laid up in a hospital bed one day, I'll have my parents bring me my NES and a few random games (and a good one or two, in case I get bored) .
Dude, I gotta agree with Basil on this one, Days of Thunder is totally unplayable!
Yeah, the thing is, I can live with crappy play control, a degree of monotony, or terrible music, etc... the problem is that Days of Thunder doesn't have *anything* that interests me or makes me think, "well at least there's that." Take Athena as an example: it sucks balls, but at the very least I can get a modicum of enjoyment from looking at the zany enemies and background graphics. Athena, therefore offers me SOMETHING, while DoT offers me NOTHING! To each his own, though; I think I'm the only guy on the planet who truthfully enjoys playing Cheetahmen II, so I do know where Ruudos is coming from.
Nope. It will auto send it out to every member on the site on the first of each month. It will also have a link on the home page as well in case you don't happen to get the email.
The ezine itself isn't sent to your email, just the link to it. Sometimes the ezines are pretty large in file size, and that would sort of clog our mail server sending it out to 500+ members. Just click on the magazine cover on the home page to download the latest volume.
I have one about half way done but couldn't find the time to sit down and finish it. Been a pretty busy/crappy 2-3 weeks for me. I won't get to read it for a few hours though
I got a big kick out of the picture in the interview with the micromusic girl. the plastic canvas controller. my mother does plastic canvas and she has made thousands of things out of it. you should see her house lol
Wow, the comic sure surprised me. I didn't expect Stan to still be harboring resentment towards Mark for getting called out on his ultra low-ball offers all those many months ago... C'est la vie, I guess...
"Part II follows the continued adventures of Marty McFly and "Doc" Emmett Brown as they use their time-traveling De Lorean, which is now capable of flight, to travel to a retro-futuristic version of 2015, an alternate 1985 and the principal setting of the first film in 1955. The film ends with a cliffhanger that is resolved in Part III."
Kevin: Your interview/article was great. I've never been interested in 8-bit music but I've got to admit I will be checking it out in the near future. Quick question: Did ComputeHer eventually give you her number? Did you tell her that you are a budding rapper? K-Han?
Basil: Dug the article! I agree that presentation really makes collections stand out. You could have all the rare items and if they are displayed poorly it is a let down. Right now I just got some new shelves and have yet to alphabetize them. Maybe I'll take your advice and go OCD style.
Stan: Thought your comic was insane!!! Wow! I love that skeleton.
Batty: Your wit is surpassed only by your looks, sir.
Thanks again guys. I usually hate the beginning of the month (bills, bills, hooker bills) but you guys make it bearable.

Nice work guys. I need to get me a Jimpoleshuk autograph now.
I need to get myself into the next issue as "collector of the month" so I can represent the Colts and get all of that Patriots junk outta there.
You MUST be sick of hearing about the Patriots. I am and I'm a fan

Sorry about the off-center scores on the last page. Dumb mistake.
Oh well, that's my one for the issue. So far.

I hadn't read the comic till I saw your post Morbis. Now that I read it, it is definitly bashing Mark. Thats silly.
