  • Hahahah. If you can get that score I'll be highly impressed, and I'd like to know your strategy. I can't think of any way of decreasing my score, so there has to be something special you're doing, some way of milking the mechanics without cheating. I thought maybe the time spell had something to do with turns, but it only adjusts the colors on the board. Nothing in the manual indicates anything about how the turns are calculated, either. I suspect maybe flying troops somehow have something to do with it, but since you don't know the turns until the very end it's difficult to tell. I'll give it a another go tonight, just curious if I can get a bit closer. If not, you've definitely figured out some sort of special strategy that's escaping me or got very, very lucky in terms of enemy troop movement, enemy spells, and battle scene obstacle placement.
  • Well, looks like Mogitogi and I are going to be the highest scores for this beast. Unless, of course, Canada man comes up with a higher (lower) score than mine. I can't wait to see how you guys did it, I'm pretty sure there's some sort of technique you're using that's escaping me. Some sort of skewed way of using the game mechanics.
  • lol most dont post till the end so lookout stan haha. but seriously im just going to post a participation score soon haha
  • My score level is very difficult to achieve, unless you found the trick that I believe Mog must have discovered and I'm not aware of. It's tough to get below 40.

Screw this game. My golem dude wrecked them up but all i had left at the end was a sword dude. He did pretty good going down with a fight though. He killed that damn dragon who pwned me and  a couple others before dying.

This is all for me on this one.

  • I died here, which added at least 2, maybe 3 moves. image

Here is a screen cap from a video I recorded that ended in 7 with no deaths. I fucked up so bad here and now I am so pissed >_<   This one should have been a god damn 5.  There was one troll guy left, I moved the phoenix to attack AND I PUT HIM ON THE SQUARE NEXT TO HIM!!!!!!!  Then of course he just moves to and empty square and didn't attack.

  • This just cost me half of my Sunday, but here we go (Stan might do a heart attack):

Now, I hope this will stand to the end.
In any case, a big thanks to Mog for pushing me to the limit. That's hardcore competition.
  • Wow awesome! I have to know what you guys are doing because I swear there's no way to fine tune my strategy any further. And what the hell I see you brought a valkyrie way over there? What the shit?! I swear I must have the too many turns calculated at the end variant.
  • And yeah, a couple of times before I did the wrong square movement thing. Very annoying. Ruins a whole game.
  • Wow, very impressive, guill. I just couldn't get into this game this week.
  • EDIT

See lower post for updated results

  • Damnit i got a score of 1007 and have been trying to post it for over an hour... Looks like nA was down or something. My phone and comp could not get on . Can i post my pic and get my deserved top 5 finish?

  • Quest, go ahead and post your new score since the site was down.

    Thanks, that's really appreciated.

That was a ROUGH job to beat ya. I think I played 5 hours today to get this score. But I'm confident I could redo it in much less time. With concentration, all enemies are beatable using the proper battling tactics.

  • Damn... lost track of time and didn't submit this week. It's probably for the best though as a really suck at this game and couldn't beat the dark side.
  • ARCHON RESULTS

    1st: 3 - guillavoie +10 points

    2nd: 6 - MrMiniMog +8 points

    3rd: 23 - Stan +6 points

    4th & 5th: 1007 - bimmy_lee & quest4nes +3 points each

    PARTICIPATION

    1008 - doner24 +1 point

Since quest4nes and myself tied for 4th & 5th place, I have averaged the available points for 4th & 5th place (4 and 2 points, respectively, for 6 points), so we both get 3 points each.

there you go. here is my updated score.

This game is frustrating. Why does the dark side always get more life/take more hits to kill. I have a stronger character but it takes me 3 shots to kill a stupid ass goblin when he hits me once and i die. I always start off so kick ass and fall apart. I just dont get it. Also i imprisoned that morphing character of his and 3 moves later he was free. But when i get imprisoned i never can get out of it.
  • Imprisoning is a waste of a move. You don't need it. You take less/more hits depending on the color of the square you step on, that's why they're always changing. It provides an extra level of challenge and strategy. Lighter-colored squares give you full power, darker less. And it's quite possible to destroy even the most powerful of enemies with a simple knight. You just have to be good enough to do it.
  • well when that morphing thing wipes me out everytime imprisoning was a good plan to me. I was just trying to win a match.
  • Yeah, the mimic is annoying, the trick is to kill it with the unicorn or a knight. I use the unicorn. It tends to stay back as the unicorn over on the right, so you have to shoot very quickly at it, duck down, repeat. Down in no time. And then, usually, the dark side will waste a turn reviving the mimic, so if you take out the dragon with the unicorn like I do it's all over after that.
  • Yup mimic and dragon tear my team up and 1 always gets revived .
  • A good 40% of the game is learning how to play the battle scenes. You can't just go into it button mashing. It's about working angles and playing the field to win.
  • So Stan, do you still wanna know how to really kill this game and beat the dark army in 20ish turns?

The amount of space the computer leaves between you and him is dependent on the computer character. The slower ones like the manticore and troll will get very close to you. The basilist (snake guy) moves very fast and will stays far away.  Same goes for mimic-unicorn.

This is so you can avoid their attacks if you stay in a "safe zone". If the basilist got any closer, you would have a very little chance of avoiding his shots unless you got real lucky.  Same goes for the slow guys, if they did not get close, they would have no chance of beating you as you can easily avoid their slow shots.

Yes sir.  Please explain how you did it.  I still can't seem to figure out what you did.  My tactic only gets me so low.

You need to attract enemy's troops to attack you. The best way to achieve it is to attack them on dark spaces. You need to battle almost exclusively on dark spaces to maximize your chances to get attacked. Then, the hardest part, don't lose any battle.

Personally, my strategy was something like:

    Teleport Valkyrie on manticore
    Defend
    Attack Troll with Valkyrie
    Defend
(At this point, it is best if their Sorcerer has not summoned element on me = losing a turn)

    Attack Sorcerer with Valkyrie
(Yes, I use the Valkyrie. I don't know if it's personal, but I think they are easy to control. They shoot relatively fast, and they're good to avoid enemy's attacks. Also, they make the battle against the Shape Shifter easier than against a dark Unicorn or Djinni.)

    Defend

(From now on, I want to let the Valkyrie on the Sorcerer spot. The enemy usually wants to retake position of that spot, so if you leave it free, he will likely not attack you and move on the sorcerer's spot.)

    Summoned elemental on a Basilisk
(Kill one of those bastard while they're still on white spot. My preference.)

    Defend (with Valkyrie)

    Move Djinni at mid-action range

    Defend (with Valkyrie)

    Attack Manticore with Djinni

The rest of my strategy can be resumed like this.

Trying to attack harder character with Djinni, and defending mostly goblin's attack with the Valkyrie on Sorcerer's spot. At some point, goblins might stop attacking the Valkyrie or the Djinni, so it
is time to just get them with the nearest skilled character.
