The Wizard for the NES - Prototype

Hello,

I recently heard mention of an NES game prototype about the cult classic movie 'The Wizard.' Does anyone have any more information about this? I would love to see some more screenshots like the one below that was supposedly taken from the prototype. Is this even a real game?

    I'd say it's just a meme. Unless they used sprites to help get more than 4 colors in some places.....but still, I doubt it. Plus, with ROM and memory being limited, I doubt they'd waste so much on that ugly screen image

    Yeah, I can see that. My hope was up that maybe something like this did legitamtely exist at one point, but alas the illusion is revelaed.

    The Wizard was just a giant commercial for Super Mario Bros 3--I've never heard of a video game concept of the movie for the NES. The Wizard of Oz on the other hand...

    I did not know it was a joke at first, that is why I posted the picture I found to the Forums cause I wanted to see if anyone had more information on the game because I thought it was legitimate. It was in the back of my mind that it might not be real, but for the most part I thought that it was and I was hoping someone out there had more screenshots and information to share. Once I got feedback from the other members I came to the conclusion that it must have been a hoax, which is a shame in my opinion. My intention certainly was not to waste other people's time and I hope that this thread did not come off that way.
