3ds owners: can you help me with something?

Hey guys, got the 3ds on launch day and have been enjoying it. My one issue is this: it sems my "sweet spot" is slightly off-center. If I hold the DS directly straight in front of me and then tilt it slightly side to side, the screen becomes blurry quicker when tilting to one side. Therefore, I believe my best possible image is achieved when I hold the 3ds slightly tilted to the left. So basically, when I hold it straight on, it is slightly beginning to blur. It is not huge but is bothering me somewhat. I'd be curious if you guys could test it out on your 3ds's. If you guys can tell me your sweet spot spot seems directly centered, I'd think about exchanging this one.

Thanks!!!

  • You can go and check out a demo at a store and see if it is the same for you. I seemed to be centered when I got the best 3D effect, however due to the distance between our eyes and other factors that will very from person to person.
  • ricks right, the "sweet spot" will vary slightly from person to person. I find that I can have it up, down , left or right as long as I have a fairly straight on angle with the screen. I find as long as I'm looking straight at it somehow its all good.
  • Hmmm... I can see the sweet spot varying as far as distance to the screen, for sure. But left/right tilting shouldn't seem to matter IMO. To me that seems like a case of hardware inconsistency rather than differences in vision. I could very well be wrong though. If a few other people could weigh in with their experiences/opinions I'd be very interested. Any opthamologist on NA? haha.
  • Mine's kind of like that too, Lucio. My sweet spot is centered, but it seems the screen gets blurrier more quickly titling it to the right than the left for me.  Doesn't bother me much, though, unless I'm in a frantic match of Street Fighter.

Thanks Andy! Yup that's what I mean. So basically, my best picture is when I have the screen tilting slightly to the left. Kind of annoying. Is this the way they all are? I'd be willing to exchange mine if it would be perfectly centered. Hmmmm.
  • can anyone else weigh in?
  • If you move enough left or right of center you'll get a rippling phasing effect to the panel itself, but if you move more up/down than it likes or far enough to the side then you can get the doubling over effect. It's just the product of how the slider takes the 2 images and spaces them apart.
