Somthing from goodwill?

The other day I finally found somthing good at goodwill. Found a good condition GBA SP for $4. It didnt turn on but I bought it anyway thinking I could always give to to someone for parts. Brought it home and tried charging it. Worked perfectly and turned around and sold for $30. Free $26 pretty much.

Sadly, this is the best I have ever gotten at goodwill and im very lucky the system worked.

Whats your best goodwill find?

  • damn man, what goodwill was this?
  • I think it was an Adventure Island 3 for $5. Very good condition.
  • Cant remember which one, I went to like 2 or 3 that day. Somewhere in southeast Wisconsin.
  • Aero Fighters for SNES at Goodwill in Coldwater Michigan. $3.99 and it was Complete. This was about 5 or 6 years ago before everyone started going nuts on the game. I still sold it for $210

  • Geez and I thought my $26 was good! You got $206 of one game? Thats insane. Then again how many times have you been to goodwill? Ive only gone like 10 times.

  • Yea I live near Waukesha and I usually only find sports games
  • The CIB Flintstones King Rock Treasure Island that Fantomex was showing off came from my Goodwill for a whopping $4. I got some very nice items in trade for it.

Games none.  They've been shattered(literally) NES carts, genesis sports and overpriced consoles with no controls/wiring.

Non-games: I've got a piece of art worth a lot of money, a solid wood/silk pad foot stool again price vs cost damn good, and a 25+year old HO train for a few dollars complete w/oval track+transformer.

Other than that, pure crap in at lot of locations in 2 states.

  • A few months ago I picked up a Sega Nomad along with a copy of Sonic Spinball for $9.99 from a local Goodwill. By far my best Goodwill find to date.
  • I have been hitting up several Goodwill's in the Milwaukee metro area for the last few years and have had countless finds. Waukesha is a ruff one, very big store but rarely find stuff. The new location in Waukesha has been better, if you live close check often I don't frequent those Waukesha stores to often. Just a few weeks ago I got a complete Mega Man 5 for $2 among others. Just know their is a bunch of competition in our area you have to be very diligant to get lucky. One of my favorite finds was a very Good condition first run Steel Battalion complete with box $15! My buddy found a Complete almost new with all plastic bags and mint top loader NES for $6.99!!
  • I usually hit up the one in Pewaukee and Brookfield. They NEVER have shit there.
  • I found a black label Final Fantasy 7 for $4 and Zelda Twilight Princess for $5 (which I flipped for $20) the other day.
  • The only time I've found anything remotely good at Goodwill was about a year and a half ago when I picked up a copy of Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country for the SNES for $4 total. They were in surprisingly good condition and work well.
  • I found a top loader NES for $10 and both GI Joe games, CIB, for $5 each. Haven't seen a lot lately, but I do still see NES games from time to time. The closest one to me did have 4-5 Sega Master System games in the box the other day. I think that's the only time I've ever seen any SMS games "in the wild!"
  • wow umm i found my n64, genesis,yellow gameboy color, sega gamegear(blue)

like 10 nes games and 6 genesis and like 5 snes games..recently i picked up zelda the ocarina of time, super mario 64, super mario kart and banjo tooie. if it wasnt for the new goodwill to pop up in my town..i wouldnt have gotten anything. most of the time its usually nothing..just be patient..and something amazing will be there! ^_^
  • Wow, there's a lot of Wisconsinites on this thread. I'm going to be moving to Milwaukee next week. Are there any good stores to go looking for NES stuff in the city?

  • I never find any game stuff anymore. The total of good things I've found at goodwill in several years were....

CIB Jaguar CD System bought for $7, sold for $185.

NIB Motorcycle Helmut bought for $5, sold for $75

few random Sega Genesis CIB games, bought 9 for $15 total, kept them all

CIB yellow game boy color system for $3, kept it

a limited edition Thomas Kinkade painting, bought for $12, sold for $225

and thats about it.....my Goodwills around here blow.
  • The Goodwill stores around me had good stuff five or six years ago. But I don't even bother these days. There's never anything there at all. Anything good either is shipped off to be auctioned online or put up for silent auction in the store.
  • sadly the employees at our good will take all the games

They generally have a pretty strict policy against that. I know a guy who worked at ours locally, and it was the kind of thing you could get fired on the spot for.

You can't even buy something while you're working, on break or not.

Are you sure they just aren't putting the games online? They do have their crappy auction site now.

As for my best find, it was my Virtual Boy. I don't remember how much I paid for it, and it wasn't CIB, but it is super clean, and very nice shape.

I haven't found another VB at our goodwill since I picked that one up 8-9 years ago.

  • I got a CIB Phantasy Star Online copy, for Dreamcast, for $1.49 once.
  • A while back I was at the DAV and I looked in one of the bins that they use to hold new merchandise they are putting out and noticed an XBOX 360. They had marked $4.99 in grease pencil on the side. Ended up being an Elite with the 120gb hard drive with RROD but guess what? Still under warranty. So for $4.99 and some shipping at the cost of MS I got a basically brand new 360. To date that's my best find.
  • Best goodwill find I've had so far wasn't found by me, but my mom's friend. A lot of NES games (about 15 of them) for $20, including contra and pro sport hockey. Recently I found 5 CIB NES games in minty condition for $2 each. A few months ago I got a NES control deck for $5 and a Game Boy Advance for $4, missing the battery cover, and about 25 PS1 games for $2 each--which I normally wouldn't have bought but they were all in amazing condition.. And last year I got ~40 genesis games for $2 each all CIB and in what seemed to be unused condition.
