Ugh you just made me hate my local population a little more since they're too smart to drop anything like that at a Goodwill. My area everyone uses net phones and ebay so they got a clue and the deals are all gone short of the rare people who don't care or care enough to think $5 is a big deal at the flea. Congrats on that as that's an insane pick up. Depending on the collector you are you could sell that for a good wad of cash and just get a non-box one and pull a tidy profit still.
It's nice to see not all goodwills actually throw the boxes away... I know of a few instances where systems had came in with boxes, but the boxes went down the garbage (and it was the contained compactor kind with the only access being a large chute from inside the store, so no digging)
I've been to mine just about every other day for the past ~3 weeks. Only games are 1 or 2 reader rabbit CDs <.<
Though I did find a Promotional Banjo Kazooie VHS.
Not to thread jack (as it is an amazing find), but I go there almost every day. I've gone months and not found anything and then in a week found a ton. Because they are donation based, it could be anytime that they get something good. The sad fact is, you just have to be there at the right time or make friends with the Goodwill employees. I can't stress enough, though, how important it is to be extra nice. I have one lady at the Goodwill close to my work that looks out for them while she's there. She's missed them from time to time, but knowing that I have someone in my corner like that is great.
On topic... That is a SICK find! A top loader at a thrift store by itself is a pretty good find. That find is borderline illegal! LOL
Those pictures kinda gave me wood. I always see a bunch of crap in my local goodwills. The more "local" thrift stores usually have better stuff. Although I have had some luck at Goodwill in the past... nothing like a minty box top loader.
Thanks alot for the props guys! This is a perfect start to my summer. Ill be in Chicago at the end of June hunting around. Maybe Ill have some luck out there.
great snag! i got my toplader in a lot with like 4 Genesis' and random wires and games. the guy didnt know what he was selling so i for the whole lot for $25
