My Trip Through the South

The Army is sending me to SC, so I thought that I would make the best of the move. I had to drive from San Antonio to Columbia, so I thought that I would google maps all the retro game stores along the way and hit them up. I was very surprised at a lot of the stores due to the prices and inventory. The best states were Texas and Alabama, the worst was Louisiana (nothing there at all). I still cant believe that there are no retro game store in Atlanta, especially for it's size.

Here is what I picked up so far:

NES
Galactic Crusader  $6.99  CIB box 8/10
Cowboy Kid    $9.99    CIB  box 8/10
Ballon Fight    $9.99    CIB  box 9/10
Micro Machines  $6.99  CIB  box 7/10
Uninvited     $6.99     CIB  box 8/10
R.C Pro Am 2    $9.99     mint cart
Faria     $2.99     cart has rental stickers on it but can easily get off

SNES
Robotrek  $3.99  mint cart
Super Bomberman $3.99  mint cart
Illusion of Gaia $3.99 mint cart
Earth Bound   $29.99 label scratched

These were just some of the good deals, I picked up a lot of other games commons and uncommon for dirt cheap for my collection. Overall I think I did pretty good. The drive was not that bad (except for texas), the South in very beautiful.

  • there's a couple retro game stores about 25 min north of Atlanta. Ya, there's really nothing in the city limits of Atlanta. Columbia eh?? I'm assuming Ft. Jackson. My brother did his basic training at Ft. Jackson last year. Nice finds too!

It's true, there is nothing inside the 285 perimeter, but to the south, north and east of Atlanta there are some retro game shops to be found.

Welcome to the South! I hope it treats you well Lloyd.

CC Gaming in Kennesaw and Play n Trade in Woodstock are the only ones I know of north of the city.  Do you know of any others??
  • Welcome to SC! There's a lots of things to be found around here and it really looks like you're willing to put forth the effort.

    Good luck!
  • Some great finds. Keep em coming!
  • HOly crap that is a long row of cheaply price slick stuff especially the Power Blade 2, Dracula X and Earthbound, not that much of the rest isn't quite notable either. I miss the south and the low prices and good variety.
