Someone has to volunteer to take the reigns. If you ask Paul, he will tell you that organizing it isn't easy.
The house idea is kind of all-inclusive though, this beach house, so I think it would be slightly less work than what Paul is undertaking. (drinkable water on tap, outlets, shelter, bedding/sleeping arrangements there)
As far as dates go, I'm a student so I vote for summer
That place is pretty slick. Poker, pool, NES, drinks... I'm in. Going halfway across the continent was always the biggest issue for me.
If this "Sleeps 28" is anything like how "Sleeps 28" works on a houseboat, someone's going to be sleeping on a mat under the sink/stairs. In that case, dibs on a real bed.
Alright I'm really interested and it seems the West Coast like's to roll in style. We can call this NintendoAge Beachout and set down in one of the beach houses Robin mentioned before.
I am down to follow up and do this so I am going to ask Paul how he runs the NA Campout and I'll be back with an update of what we need to do.
If nothing else, and if the beach house thing falls through, everyone can get together at my arcade place for drunken video games. I don't really live next to anything cool like a condo, but Seaside and Long Beach are only an hour or so away. Maybe just for a day thing before the beach or something, just throwing it out there.
I was thinking about this today also, and how we could get it going. Would a convention type thing where we all meet at a hotel and rent a convention room for a common area or something like that. I do know of this lodge in Tahoe that has like 15 rooms it used to be an old motel that they converted the front room to a common room with a kitchen and what not. and its not too expensive suprising enough. Any intrest in something like that? Robin its like 10 minutes away from 5 casinos!
I've got a Red Tent with a decent selection of chips I can swap in for some variety.
Oregon or Northern california is pretty central as far as west coast goes. As long as I have enough notice to save up (and if I get a job, request time off) I'm down.
Instead of renting a beach house we should just raid Robins! He has room for everybody...
I second this!
lol
I will be calling Paul this weekend on any tips n tricks for the "beachhouse" idea. Keep throwing ideas out there though as nothing is set in stone.
One question I have is where do people prefer to have it.
Our options are:
Southern California
Northern California (That lake tahoe place Wesley mentioned looks promising) RENO!
Oregon
South Washington
Please consider everyone and not just yourself. We want to make this convenient for everyone.
If you want to maximize attendance you might want to think about doing farther "inland" maybe somewhere like eastern Cali, Nevada or even Colorado. The coast people could drive up to 6 hours and then you could draw some inland people to the club...
I am currently in San Diego so I vote somewhere in So Cal and sometime soon because I'm probably going back to the east coast at the end of the summer.
Might be too close to the convention in portland to reserve something like this, but would be cool to rent something like Robin suggested around that time and be able to go to the convention as a group.
lol, I have debated taking charge of this thing for 2 years now Beach house was my first thought as well oh beardless one...I'm in and down for it! Wish there was an airport at the beach to make things easier for a lot of people, but we can always start off small and cozy and go from there.....we pretty much haave NA gathering at every game expo we go to anyway
Oh and I've been at this lincoln city house, it would work good! We would stay there for bca pool tournaments and chinook winds just down the road! Good location!

...as opposed to what? Frolicking half naked on the beach with 40 random dudes you met in an online video game forum...
I'm in.

Who's going to honestly play video games at a beach house?
You have never been to a beach in the PacNW have you? "Beach house" is a relative term...it is a house...but is it really a beach?
As for who would play video games at a beach house... I would! I did when my family took a cruise, and went to Hawaii.
I also vote for the barcade trip.
I hope this works out for you, just please don't call it campout
Beachhouse sounds nice.
Campout really refers to how everyone at my get together have to sacrifice for it to be fun. It's fun but people lose sleep due to the heat, etc.
Good luck all. ohh and my wife says, just come here if you wanna go to a campout.

... but instead of having the Hell's Angels do security, James will find some of his sketchy BMX friends...
I think this depends on whos taking charge.
Im sure everyone prefers that it's nearest to them. I vote Oregon.
