Sega Nomad Price?

I was thinking of looking for a sega nomad so I can take it with me to school and play between classes.
Does any one know how much they usually go for?

  • Probably at least $50 for the system. I tried selling the same one twice last Christmas, only to get two dead beat bidders. The first time it went for around $90, and the second time around $67. But there were also about 10-15 games included.
  • I'd say $50-$60 for the system with either a battery pack or an AC adapter (if you can, get an AC adapter with it...I timed a Nomad for battery life, and it chewed through six brand new AA's in 35 minutes...I'm not kidding at all). I bought mine off a buddy for $25 in trade (which he still hasn't used, 5 years later); it was the system (with original box), AC adapter, battery pack, embroidered carrying case, and a 3-button controller.
  • Thats way fast for the batteries to die. Probably why the system didnt catch on as well, plus the fact with it being close to the end of the 16 bit era.
  • I did fail to mention...those AA's were a very cheap kind of battery; they were non-alkaline, and were 16 for $1 (back then...they're now 12 for $1) at Save-a-Lot. And yes, battery life did play a bit of a part in the Nomad's demise, as well as the Genesis's general unpopularity by the time the Nomad was released ('95).
  • Wow I didn't realize the Nomad was that late! I have one with all the trimmings but I don't play it :/ I don't really play Genny games except when I get the urge to play a bit of Sonic or I get a neat Genesis-exclusive game (like Moonwalker was the last one)..
  • Get a Master Gear converter and a Game Gear and you could play SMS games portably also!!
