Super Famicom Cartridges

So i'm quite new to collecting SNES/SFC games and just bought 3 games on ebay for SFC pretty cheap

Soul & Sword CIB ($5)
Dragon Quest V CIB ($5)
Fire Emblem CIb ($6)

and afterwards the thought came to me... I don't even know how to see if a game is official or fake etc.

So i did some searching about how to see if it's real and found:
- Look for the Super Nintendo with japanese text(SFC) under it on the box/cartridge
- Super Famicom Logo
- The Cartridge has metal screws
- Look up the AAAA-AA (example) code.
- And of course on the backside the serial and Nintendo stamp/trademark

Anyone has a guide/site or just tips on what to look for with fakes and bootleg?
I'm really in the dark on this matter.

  • Welcome to the family! That Fire Emblem is the real deal Jack! most Hong Kong knock offs don't come with quality glossy booklets and bonus loot like stickers. The quality of the plastic is often low. Moreover, many Super Famifakes I have encountered were light as a feather. In addition, the label art on the cart and the box artn (if any box is included is cheaply done(and has no description of the game/usual legal info like publishing year ,company , region (all of the usual leagl mumbo jumbo at the bottom of the box). When in doubt, you can always make a quick post here to ask the NA fam at large .
  • Thanks for the help Genesisdon't , now I've got a bit of a guideline to follow and will learn in time i suppose. Which is fun in it's own right(really want to learn my stuff).

These 3 will be my first games ever from Japan and first CIB's for retro games so I'm pretty exited about it!
