1M subcircuit board not installed

I just picked this up, but when it starts it gives me an error, "1M subcircuit board not installed"

It also has an error when I try to save a game. I tried looking for help online, but all I get is emulation forums. This is a real cartridge, and I've confirmed it's not a bootleg. Anyone know what's wrong, or how to fix this?

  • Says here you have a bootleg, cart pics? Possibly something wrong with the save data too from what else I'm reading.

  • i have a bootleg pokemon ruby, i got off ebay. it works, but its frozen once and it never uses my name, always calls me player. easiest way to see if its a bootleg, compare the nintendo logo on the back, a bootlegs e looks weird, also the copyright symbol at the end is a dot.

also, the case model # does not match a proper gba cart, the bootlegs i have say GBA-004, the rest all say AGB-002. Plus the case is see thru and nitnendos no where on the pcb. if you bought it at a local retailer, return it. They could get in alotta shit if they sold you a bootleg out of a business
  • You're lucky you have a v1.0 cartridge and not a v1.1. If you had a v1.1 all you would get is a blank white screen after powering up the GBA. At least this way you can still look at Oak's ugly mug whenever you'd like.

You probably have a hardware issue. It could be dirty contacts, but you probably already gave them a good cleaning. It can also be caused by liquid damage or a defective flash chip.
