I'm gonna have to go with this option as well. While you can probably find the parts easy enough online to replace it, you could probably get away with a whole new unit for the same price or less.
I'm gonna fix 2 more of my original Game Boys today, these are the ones my brother and I had since they came out, Mine still works but 5-10 dead lines, my brothers just the opposite, dead screen except 4-8black lines. I'll take photos and post em.
