Connector Pin Issues

Hey Nintendo Age,

So I just replaced my 72-pin and I noticed my game plays fine when I don't push it down, however when I push the game down it's not playable.  Any reason?  Could I have placed the connector in upside down? or that the connector is not attached correctly, what should I check?

  • The down position is just a gimmick, no need too, it actually hurts your connector. My advice is to clean your games and keep it up always.

    Good to know

    Thanks!
  • Yup those new connectors have such tight pins you don't have to push the games down. I've been going the refurbishing of old connectors route lately and it doesn't take much to make worn connectors work in the up position as well. I've found a happy medium where games still work but I push them down. It just feels right after all those years.
  • Yeah Pushing down sounds un, but it's a shame it was a gimmick
  • I haven't pushed down an NES game in years. there's no reason for it, unless you also like VCRs. Too bad it's going to take a very long time before this information has widespread adoption. Most actually think you're supposed to push it down, just because Nintendo said so.
