Need help playing Famicom Disk System rom "Otocky"

I'm trying to play what appears to be the coolest game in the world. It's Otocky for the Famicom Disk System. I'm trying to load the rom onto nestopia. I have the fds bios and can play other games fine. When I load Otocky it starts fine and gets to the screen where you would typically press start. Well instead of saying press start it says, "Please set side B". I'm thinking that this is something you would do on the actual FDS, but can you actual pass this screen on an emu? I'm using a generic USB controller if that helps. Anyone out there know?? Thanks ahead of time!

  • Otocky is an awesome game, I'm writing a review on it at the moment

I dunno about playing roms, but when it says insert side b, you have to eject the floppy and flip it over... Lots of fds games have 2 sides, I would assume the emulators should have a way of handling it.

ps: after flipping the disk over, the game continues automatically, you don't press any buttons if that helps any.
edit2: aparently FCEUX needs you to press F8 to send a "I've switched sides" trigger..  nestopia might have something similar, or you can try a diff. emulator?
  • There should be an option on the emulator to "flip sides" of some sorts, look out for it!
  • Nice, thanks I'll look into it. I'll post my findings for anyone else that may care in the future.
  • Ok, figured it out. Once you load the fds game you need to go to the Machine tab > External > Disk system > Change side > Side B. Thanks to those who helped, the solution was simple enough, but this is my first go at this emu. Thanks!
