How do you collect PAL games?

I'm curious on how you guys (and girls?) collect PAL games.

Do you collect CIB or loose?

One region or all (SCN, FRA, NOE, UKV, etc)?

PAL-A, PAL-B or both?

Or doesn't it matter as long it's PAL?

PAL exclusives only?

Variants?

And do you live in a PAL-A, PAL-B or NTSC area?

I live in the PAL-B/SCN area and collect all regions besides PAL-A/ITA and AUS.

I'm getting a CIB and a loose set + variants of PAL-B/SCN, all other regions have to be CIB.

Not sure if I'm getting into variants on the other PAL regions.

  • I'am collecting all region codes, doesn't metter if its Pal A or B. But got no one SCN code image The only Scandinavian game I own is Devil World but this game is without any code on it. Why You don't collect ITA and AUS games???
  • I live in the US but I collect all PAL region codes. I want a CIB copy of every game from every region eventually. I have focused more on PAL A games so far cause they are located more in English speaking countries and I can communicate better, UK, and AUS mainly.

  • I only keep a game with a different region code if it has different label art. One copy of each game is enough for me, it doesn't matter which region it is. I live in a PAL region but I don't know which one image
  • I'm with Jason on this -- I collect anything I can get my hands on, regardless of region.

    Heh, eh... 'cause...?

I'll try to finnish those other regions + NTSC before I go there. But I'll keep all AUS and ITA I'll get my hands on. So far I've only got a CIB AUS system and only one CIB ITA game.

Hey, you got a problem with us Australians hey? image

Anyway, I'll buy anything from anywhere. Don't care as long as it works.
  • Hehe, nothing at all. My "room-mate" is a Bearded Dragon image

But for now I'll stick with those Aussie-only and HES games.
  • I collect Anything and Everything! Although I have taken a break on Australian sellers as $16-18 a game for shipping really sucks!!
  • I collect one and only one of each unique Non-NTSC title....regardless of code. Liscensed or unliscensed. Multiple copies of the same game, but with different serial numbers or art, do not interest me at all. The Smurfs is the Smurfs....regardless of code. And as always, cart only.

It's not cheap, that's for sure! But realistically, it does cost close to $16 to ship a game from Australia to the US. I know it costs me $11.70 to ship a boxed game to Australia, so I'd imagine it's about the same price (if not more) the other way.

  • Well, I sent 23 boxed games to the US from Australia and it was around $80 Australian.
  • It costed me a ton to send BlueMadCap his games too. He got like 35 or something cart onlys and it was like 70 I think. Not cheap.

  • Sorry guys, what I meant by my post wasn't that Aussies rip us off on shipping. I meant it just sucks to have to pay that much to ship one game. Plus that last two orders of games I bought from Aussie Aussie Aussie Oy Oy Oy, never arrived. Out over $100 just on shipping costs plus both orders had 4 or 5 CIB games in each order.
  • The shipping costs you are experiencing are directly due to the cheap US dollar. A few years ago, the Euro used to trade well against the greenback....but now it's bad for USA buyers. I was lucky enough to do all my overseas collecting a decade ago.

The current conversion rate is awful. . Fortunately, that makes it a wonderful time for USA sellers to sell overseas!
  • It is horrible to buy anything that is Pounds Sterling, the conversion kills us. At least the dollar is worth more than the AUS so that helps a little. I wish I had done my PAL stuff when the dollar was stronger too, you made a good decision on that.

  • Imagine how hard it is for us Aussies - well, its improved a little lately. I've found that there are some great games on foreign eBay sites that I'd love to buy, but its just the postage that puts me off too. Postage certainly does dull the feeling of a great buy sometimes...
  • I collect only the PAL exclusives and major title changes, and I generally go by condition, and then rarity of region code (i.e. I'd prefer ESP or FRG as they are a lot tougher for me to find than NOE, but I'll take a better condition NOE over a poor condition ESP or FRG). I also only want PAL-B, unless it's a PAL-A exclusive (Aussie Football, etc). Oh yeah, and I live in a PAL-B region image
  • I collect PAL-B, mainly SCN. I'm going for a CIB-Bergsala collection, but since I want my games to be in good shape, it really takes time. Scandinavian kids must've been least careful with their games boxes. I live in Gothenburg, Sweden.

EDIT: If I stumble across variations, I buy them. However, I'm not actively searching for them.
