Are new 72 pin connectors suppose to be this stupid?

I got it from the Nintendo Repair Shop not some guy off eBay. And I was just wondering if it's supposed to be REALLY hard to get a game out after the new pin connector has been installed. And if it's suppose to even do anything. Seriously. My old NES with the old pin connector is better than this new one. I'm selling the one with the new pin connector in it that's why I need to know if I did something wrong or whatever. Like did I not install it correctly? I followed the tutorial videos on Nintendo's website...

  • They loosen up eventually. People call them the ninja grip connectors. I find they work best if you don't push the game down, give that a try.
  • The trick is to shimmy in and out so you loosen it up a bit at first. But yeah, they are called kung-fu grip for a reason.
  • I hate them.

Thank god. I was NOT about to take the thing apart again.
  • Stuff a game genie in it a few times, it'll loosen up.

    thats what she said......

but yea, GG boards are thicker then NES boards so as Dave said, it will loosen it up some.
  • But don't use GG's on it all the time, use them on a spare system to save your connector. But also, DON'T PUSH DOWN.

Buy a pin connector from me. I sell ones that are identical to the original that have a grip as loose as the original systems. The pin connector you have is from MCM and they are know for the ninja grip.

  • Yeah, I got one of them ninja grip ones too. They do loosen up after a while. Still need a pair of vice grips to take the damn cart out tho.

ditto...my spare NES has a replaced 72 pin, and loves to hang on to carts. But my very 1st one is still rockin strong, so i won't have to deal with this till it croaks.
  • How much do 72 pins run these days? I need 1 or 2.
  • The boiling trick worked for me. Try that out if you get a chance and are in need of a replacement.
