Collecting Milestones

W have an awesome collecting goals thread, but I thought it would be nice to start a thread where you could mention significant finds or events in your collecting history. These events are significant as deemed by you, it could be from as big as completing a SET or Sub-Set to as small as getting one of the Rare games for a system you collect for.

I recently had two cool things happen
1. I now own over 500 Genesis Games
2. I now own over 200 Saturn Games

Please share your own milestones.

  • The only notable one I have will be posted later this month.

Congrats on the Genny and Saturn milestones, Johnny!
  • I just hit 20% of a complete Super Famicom set. That would be 289 of 1442 games. YAY!!!
  • I can do this now

  • I am so jealous of Synbios awesome Saturn Collection, I am just thankful he throws me his scraps once in awhile.
  • I now have over 100 boxed Korean version Mega Drive games.

Thanks! You've always been cool with me so why not try to help a fellow collector here and there.

That game I was waiting on arrived so now not only is my longbox collection complete but the games have all the flyers, stickers, etc that came with them new...at least until I confirm another US variation lol. See my Dragon Force Working Design's flyer thread

Now I'm just waiting on a deal to finalize so I can get the cardboard sleeve for the Bootleg II On The Road demo I've been missing.

  • Seriously man your collection is beeautiful. Really nice job, I want to see a video of it when you get that last piece.
  • Yup, it is, and is why I suggested someone interview you about your collection, over in the E-zine thread.

  • Yeah Jim, that saturn collection is gorgeous. I'm still new on the block but I hope to catch up one day. I keep going back and forth between imports and US releases though. The Saturn is such a fun console to collect for. I'm so glad that this site and the collectors on it got me going in my current direction. As it is, I'm only at about 35 US games and about 15 imports (all quality stuff so far) and I just nabbed a copy of Hyper Duel. Really stoked on that, not really a milestone but one of the rougher games to knock off the list.

Hey Johnny, I've seen your set up and it ain't no slouch. Those 32X boxes look fucking rad on a shelf.

You guys are all so awesome.

Wow, well if it was US Saturn specific yes but if it's about collecting in general, I'd suggest SpaceFlea (no slouch in the US Saturn collecting either, not a slight at all my man)! His collection is more well rounded than mine!

At the moment, I have 494/1960 Satakore listed Saturn titles (I don't think the Lost & Found releases should be included as you have to modchip a Saturn to play them but it's not my site). 256 US, 204 JP, 26 PAL, 5 S. Korean, 1 Chinese, 1 Brazilian & Lost and Found Vol. 3.

  • Well chumawn Dan, let's see your stuff yo! Don't be bashful!
  • Probably getting my arcade machine... other than that, there's no other significant milestones. I'm gonna hit 200 NES cartridges pretty soon, though. I'm currently at 173 NES cartridges (and just for the sake of being thorough, I do have 8 Famicom games that I do not include in my NES game count).
  • I'll post up pics in due time. I still have some things trickling in. I plan to get a pic of the whole collection around New Years (if I can get it set up nicely by then). Then I might take some pics of individual sets as well. Though I'd like to hold out on the full sets until I get the last straggling variants (full sets are fun and all, but full sets with variants are special). As for Saturn, I have about 650 total games. Approximate distribution being 252 unique US variants and 398 JP. So I'd say I'm a leg up on Synbios in the JP Saturn department , but I'm still jealous of the last couple US variants, and especially "THE" demo disc.
  • Just made it to 110 Genesis Games with the pick up of a boxed Shining Force 2.

Nice! I think my biggest regret with genesis collecting, is that I started out collecting loose. It's been a pain in the ass hunting down boxes.

  • For me it was getting Power Blade for my Playchoice machine. Such a rare game for the machine, took me close to a year of active searching to find it.

First, nice job Addicted and SF2 is a great game!

When I started collectiong Genesis games I didn't really care if they were loose or boxed. Looking back, I'm not terribly upset I went that route. Certain games must be boxed (160ish) but the others (330ish) are fine as is. I keep all the carts in boxes for easy access anyways and rarely need the cases.

Once your sickness...er...collecting bug gets to a certain point, proper displaying of it becomes challenging. My longtime gf is cool with my collecting (gamer chick) but not so cool when it come's to displaying it. One last milestone and I can work on proper displayal

  • Display does become a big part of it. I bought enough Shelves to display every Sega Console Game made for the US...I failed to account for variants...I now need a bigger office and house.
  • A little while ago I broke the 900 Megadrive / Genesis mark. 71 more and I'll hit 1000!
  • And Dane, you wouldn't believe it, but I might have as many as 3 or 4 more to add to your growing Korean MD collection

You are a horrible man as you are continuously hurting my bank account and making it cry. Keep 'em coming buddy!
  • I finally found the slip cover for Sega Saturn Bootleg II On The Road so now my US Saturn demo collection is complete!

Other than Press Demos (I have just one of ???), that's it! The Press Demo's weren't intended for the public so they're pure gravy to me.

By complete I mean complete by really anal standards lol.

  • on to a complete japanses set now?
  • Your next goal is to find me a Screams Vol. 2.

    I have been looking

@ final fight cd oh hell no I know of a few people who are going for a complete JP set and there's just so many titles. 1268 titles & 243 demos...again, oh hell no! Plus JP collectors are finding more previously undocumented titles/demos still. 256 & 13 was bad enough!!!
