The one N64 repro that has to be made - Zelda OoT Master Quest

  • I didn't realize that common ROM chips stopped at such a low memory density. That's interesting.

Drakon - you should probably work on your delivery... I'm sure you don't mean to come off so rude...

No one besides you has said anything about it being impossible. Everyone else is only stating that right now its not possible because no one has spent the time and money to come up with a way to do it.

There obviously has to be a way to make N64 games, because the companies who made N64 games to begin with, well....made them.

Kinda the point I'm getting at. Still, there's the legality issue you mentioned earlier too.

I like how this guy thinks lol but at least having the boxes made would be badass and the people who wanted the everdrive route could do that maybe hack the SD card to fit in the gold case and would be good to go.

I'm sure it can all fit in there with very little modding done. We just need a good donor cart case. This method is a poor man's repro (a poor man with money for a everdive mind you), but it can be done.

People on the internet are just too sensitive.  I have lots of great friends and a great gf in real life so obviously there's nothing wrong with my delivery

    Case in point.

One's delivery and likeability in real life have very little to do with how one comes off online...

    Just work on it

work on what?  People are too sensitive it's not my issue

  • I agree with Drakon (maybe it's because we're dra's nshit), but people are too sensitive on the net, and in real life too. Who cares if you piss off some random nobody on a forum?
  • Suit yourself about how you want to act and come across.

I'm not suggesting that you need to kiss ass, or anything, but more careful wording will go a long way.

like if someone nicely mentions that I offended them by accident then I'll most likely apologize if that makes you feel better.

So arch 8ngel, I'm sorry that I have offended you

  • Sincerity can go a long way, too...

Right? Right?  I love you dra600n, you are my high horse!
  • someone make me this also please make me a repro with the Glover 2 demo
  • A repro should be possible, if you search the net there are a few pirate N64 games out there so it should be somewhat possible (how they did it I have no idea). As for using the MQ rom it would need some repair. If I remember correctly the final cut scene after beating the game is missing. For some reason the gamecube disc uses a video of the final cutscene so when you play the rom on a 64 it just freezes at that point. The rom references a file on the disk to load the video which isnt present within the rom when being played on the 64. It also has the gamecube button layout which was already mentioned which would be nice to see removed.
  • yup cause pirates that did it with expensive equipment means that anyone at home can make their own repros. Sorry kid it's possible but again too damn expensive.
  • Perhaps one day once the N64 is better known, repros will be possible. Maybe the method won't be very obvious at first... We're resourceful creatures, last I checked.
  • No it's not like we don't know how the chips WORK. It's that to recreate it you need at least an fpga...which is freaking expensive.
  • I hear such tales.... they actually made this game for Gamecube, and it has the original version too. That's just what I heard.
  • That's an emulator running the n64 rom.
  • But is it playable? I must know. Also I would like it to be CIB. Oh....wait a tick..... looking at my copy for Gamecube, they already thought of that too. Play it on Gamecube peeps.....and move on.
  • Hey i'm not the one who wants to make a repro.

It's just not as authentic-feeling, though.

    Never heard of it. 0_0

Even though you necro bumped this thread, doing so reminded me of the box art I did. I'm thinking of redoing it again and sticking it to a box template.

Ura Zelda was supposed to be OOT's expansion for the 64DD.

  • You realize the rom has to be fixed right? In the code the cutscenes at the end of the game (for whatever reason) link to a video file of the cutscene on the GameCube disk. I think the data is there for the real time scene but the rom code needs fixed to point to it. I would hate to see an incomplete repro.......

Master Quest does run just fine on N64, as you can see in this flash cart demonstration of mine:

Imagine this game in it's own cart with a sexy label... I want it, anyone else?

Another N64 repro that would be cool: Sin & Punishment (English translated, which has already been done).

I read somewhere that making repro's on N64 isn't possible yet. Nes repro's just became inexpensive within the last 4 or 5 years. We probably won't see n64 repro's for another 5 or 6 years the way I see it.

    Pretty much.

Y'all that're frothing at the mouth for this and whatever other N64 repros make you giddy... it's not in the immediate future. (At least from what I've read on the subject).

Like I said on the other thread, flash cart is the ONLY choice right now. Probably forever, unless you can pull out a ROM up to 64 MEGABYTES big out of nowhere since they weren't ever made, like EPROMS. Flash carts use RAM because that's the only thing that can hold it because RAM is the only thing that got that big. Hard drives came out and made EPROMS a thing of the past and so they didn't advance to that size.

This man knows exactly what is up and that is basically what I've read on this subject elsewhere too.

We may never actually see n64 repros, or at least in the sense that we see NES/SNES/Genesis repros.
