I bought this a little while back and I've been enjoying the hell out of it now that I finally set some time away to actually play it. The game plays ultra fast and while the graphics initially seem a little bland, the amount of detail, especially in the later levels is nothing short of incredible. I freaking love the stage 2 music, it's still stuck in my head and the controls are spot on. The more I play, I reconsider it a good challenge but not super difficult, in fact, the further I get into it, the game actually seems to get easier. Go figure.
Any of you guys played this? I've been tooling around with the power ups to see what works best. So far I'm leaning towards the forcefield blue power up since it stays on all the time, while the weapon power ups require you to press the B button.

To anyone looking to get this, I would recommend getting Robo Aleste on the sega cd as well, the gameplay is virtually identical and Aleste is alot cheaper.
I keep hearing that there's a direct relation to MUSHA and Space Megaforce on the snes. Honestly, after looking at the gameplay of that game, I don't see a connection at all. It's also related to the Power Strike games on the SMS and there's even an Aleste game on the MSX and gamegear.
I've been learning quite a bit about the series on the whole.I'm always baffled at why the names get changed aroung with games like this and the Darius and Thunder Force games. It makes no sense to me, seems if anything you stand the chance of fans missing the games all together.

The music of stage 2 is stuck in my head. This is the only stand alone track I could find for it and it's badass. You just get so pumped when this kicks up.
The music in the first stage is pretty awesome also.
Full-Metal Fighter is actually my phone's ringtone.
I only played this though emulation though the PS2(PGEN) DS (jEnesis) PC (Fusion)
